Attempting to attach pics of the RTW tandem couple, their bike, and odometer. I think that's EIGHT water bottles on their bike....It's what I meant by "bike tank".

I never rode a tandem road bike, but when my twin girls were younger I had a tandem trail-a-bike hooked up to my mountain bike.  They always had a blast on it, but I learned quickly that you had to ride carefully with it hooked up.  For one, it took a while to stop using just the brakes on the mountain bike.  It also had a tendency to understeer (keep going in a straight line) when both kids were on it.

I was going to mention that perhaps one of them is blind, but I think others did already.

On another note, I rode one once with my SO and hated it. We could go fast sure, but we argued a lot. Cool

The triathlon bike vs. road bike quandary. Before you even ask the road bike vs. tri bike question, you should have a couple sprint triathlons or duathlons under your belt.
