Pre-race routine:

Had some bags of gold for breakfast. That's similar to won tons with spinach and cheese in them. Good stuff.
Event warmup:

It's a century ride.
  • 00m
  • 50 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr

I did pretty good. This was a just survive ride. Had a blast doing it.

I would recommend this ride to anyone at any time.

Post race
Warm down:

peddled a mile from the school back to my car in a low gear, just tooling around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm fat and way out of shape. Or did you mean other than that?

Course: "Mildly hilly" my butt. I'm happy as all hell about this. First 50 miler in 2 years after regrowing my shoulder and taking care of mom after dad died. Beautiful ride the first 2/3 of it. Then someone got Satan involved and added hills. You could hear the giggling from the glaciation from the last ice age as it left 200-300' climbs of "You've GOT to be kidding" slopes. My legs are seriously contemplating going on strike.

I love your course description

Seriously, great way to come back to endurance sports after a rough couple of years!

I've been told my write ups are worth the read

This one I wasn't as attentive outside of me as I'm used to being. My heart rate has had times it goes kaflooey so I was making sure it stayed in check.

Never got above 160, so that's a giant load off my mind.

So... you're saying the last 1/3 of the course wasn't so enjoyable?
