Only Foundation spots available. No 'regular' spots even show up.

The regular spots don't go on sale until later.

Great!!!  So happy to hear that, I know you've really been wanting to sign up for this race.

IMHO athletes themselves have created the situation. Sure, WTC has a great business model but the main reason that I see over and over for wanting to do AZ or FL is because they are flat, stable weather, cheaper, which are completely legit reasons to race them.

There are plenty of IM's that still have slots open, but they all bring an extra element of an uncertain finish due to some extremity with course. Many folks dont seem to want this extra layer of challenge.

As long as folks box themselves in to AZ or FL to the exclusion of other IM's, this folly of registering will simply be the norm.

If they moved IMTX from May to later in the year, it would probably sell out. As it is, May is a horrible time of year for that race. No time to train in the heat and it's a hot race.

Not summer! No way! Shoot, they could do it early December and the weather might be decent. Here in Dallas we had 80 degree weather yesterday!

I got in online using a general entry slot. Started hitting refresh at 12:57 CST. Oddly, wasn't even planning on trying as I really didn't think I had a shot at all with the threads here and on ST over the past several days. I still really can't believe I got in; but am excited to return to the venue.

I was wondering the same thing. Are there any events to try to win a spot?
