Pre-race routine:

Bathroom, get my clothes/shoes prepped. Hung out with my buddies.
Event warmup:

hopping around and stretching while chatting with my buddies.

Comments:

I felt good in this run, BUT...I did start running with a friend...and she has a heart issue so there was a lot more walking then I had planned. I am a bit of a softie, so I didn't run off and leave her behind...well I kinda did--at the last mile...I didn't even realize it at first! Oh well. This is why I prefer to run and race alone--I always will match the friend with the slower pace...leading to me going slower than I could.
What would you do differently?:

Run on my own. Train more, the usual.
Post race
Warm down:

hopped around again (it had gotten colder!) hooked up some hot chocolate, and cheered on some friends who were doing the duathlon at that venue. After all of that fun, we all headed to a local sushi joint--my first sushi experience! See my pics below--I had the bento box, but m friends got the colorful bridge o' sushi, it was so pretty, I wanted to share the picture here.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My relaxing my pace.

Event comments:

I ran this race last year--and did it faster then. I will do better next year. I do enjoy this race, it is scenic and challenging.

Glad you had a good time, and I'm sure your friend appreciated the company...some things are more important than finishing times. That's an awesome sushi bridge :D What did you think of first experience?

It was quite tasty. Maybe there's something magical in sushi, after all, I am very un-sore today.

Nice job Kate. I'm sure you friend appreciated you staying with her. I haven't tried a trail run yet, I'm a little afraid of twisting my ankle or something like that, I have no skills off-road....Cool Sushi pics, did you like the Sushi?

Great job and I'm with everyone else, it doesn't matter what your time was and that you could have gone faster by yourself. Life is about shared experiences with friends, there the bits we remember.

I'm curious about the 'don't increase your run by more than 10% per week' rule. Is there a minimum mileage under which this doesn't apply?

How should I go about training for the marathon while also building base in the other two events? Doing this seems like it's causing me to break the 10% rule in running.

Yes, the Dual is a little heavier than Cervèlo’s high end counterparts. But…the price is within reach of the masses and it still incorporates all of the design features that make a Cervèlo special.
