My training partner and I want to stay within walking distance of the venue on Thursday and Friday. Then he is going to stay in that room a third night and I'm going to spend the night with my family who is coming down on race day. So, I'm looking for a barebones kind of place close to the venue for Thursday and Friday and a place within a short drive for race night. They are gonna have to pry me out of that car. |

This year we stayed at the Chesapeake something or other (host hotel?) about 5 miles away and getting to/from was fine pre race, but required a shuttle bus on race day. Shuttling is a PIA after the race with a bike and all your gear when you just want to get to just go lie down. Host hotel was nice, but high $. So, last year I did Louisville for my third and before I left for work my co worker says " I don't know where you are going this wknd, but I'm sure its going to be some God Awful endurance event!" I just snickered and walked out the door. Plan on keeping it a secret again at work again ( I think). That was tough hmmm, I just went back and see this was a thread from 2015.
