Total Time = 1h 59m 44s
Overall Rank = 176/308

Age Group Rank = 10/15
Event warmup:

I knew it was going to get HOT fast - and it did!
Run
  • 29m 40s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Meh. I went out faster than I should have but settled in. I ran with a friend for 2 miles so it was good. The crowd was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. I tried to talk but no one else seemed to be receptive.
Transition 1
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

Forgot to hit LAP when I got into transition. OOPS. Garmin shows a 1 second t1. Hard to beat that.
Bike
  • 55m 17s
  • 15.71 miles
  • 17.05 mile/hr
Comments:

Last year I blew the doors of my prior year time and I was hoping to do the same this year. Apparently my legs are tired from my IMMT training cycle. Eyes on the bigger price though I guess. Meh. DH beat me by .02 MPH. I'll get him next year!
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Run
  • 32m
  • 3.3 miles
  • 09m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

Good thing it was short - because it was getting HOT in the sun. 2 water stops - drank half, dumped half on me! It was nice and cold.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, saw friends and took lots of pictures.

I was hoping to do a little better but like I said, I'm working through my IMMT training so something had to give.

To finish is to win!

Good race, smart thinking to keep your eye on the bigger prize!  DH beat you by .02 seconds on the bike?!  Next year...look out!

Congratulations on a great day Randee. It may not have been what you wanted, but it still looks pretty  awesome!

Thanks kids.

and TJ the beer was from the Hooker Brewery which I'm a big fan of - however we don't drink anymore so I didn't even partake.

This year they gave pint glasses instead of medals. Meh - I'd rather have a finisher medal!

That's right...Big Picture.

.02? Only about the difference of a sneeze!

But....you can use pint glasses for lemonade and iced tea.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

My first duathlon was a success. I had so many fears before the race but none of those fears happened. And when it was all over, I felt I had accomplished something big.

The word enthusiasm comes from Greek enthousiasmos or “inspiration by the presence of a god.” If you are enthusiastic about your sport, I encourage you to honor that inspiration by finding balance.

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
