Sunny
Total Time = 1h 14m 46s
Overall Rank = 47/750
Age Group = M30-35
Age Group Rank = 10/76
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at the ungodly hour of 3:45 am to drive down to PTC. I had never actually been there so I had no idea how long the drive would take. I was supposed to go and pick up Courtney before the race until she came up lame and decided to stay home. Needless to say I was really, really early!
Event warmup:

Swam a little in the lake.
Swim
  • 11m 9s
  • 528 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim felt faster. We started in TT format in pairs of two. I was through the six people ahead of me in the first 25 yards. My timing chip almost fell off at the first turn so I swam with it in my right hand for the last part of the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Actually go to the pool and swim. That and tighten my strap.
Transition 1
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Includes run from lake, still a bit long.
What would you do differently?:

Practice the flying mount so I am comfortable doing it.
Bike
  • 38m 1s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 20.83 mile/hr
Comments:

I had heard that the course was flat so I wasn't prepared for the small rollers at the beginning. Overall a good bike course.
What would you do differently?:

Train.....
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Good T2
Run
  • 23m 30s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

This was the worst 5k time I have posted in a couple of years. Very disappointed with this run.
What would you do differently?:

Train, hit the track more.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung around the finish line and cheered on my NAMC people and other athletes that I am friends with.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The fact that my son is 5 weeks old and I haven't trained to amount to anything lately. I suppose that for the effort it was a good race although not something I am particularly pround of.

Event comments:

Love this race, will be back in years to come.

Congratulations on a great race, Brett! It might not have been your best time, but it is still pretty impressive, especially considering that you've taken time off from training for Rocket Baby!

It was great to see you there on Saturday. As we were driving down to PTC, I thought about our caravan to High Falls last year and what a difference a year can make! I would not be where I am today without your help Thanks for everything!

Hmmm ... even on an "off day" and with little to no training, you still manage to finish in the Top 10 of your AG.

Congratulations, my friend, on off day.

Like Brian said, congrats on the off day - to have that kind of speed on a 5K would be incredible. Great job, especially with the lack of training time.

Smoking fast as usual -- congrats! Just blame it on the nasty lake water on the slow run. Cheers!

and there is no way you can ever get that one second back.
Woot!
So it was an off race for you due to life events. I take victories any way I can.
Good job.

It wasn't your best race, but you still did a fine job! Congrats.  BTW, if this was an "off" race, I can't wait to see you at an "on" race.

We met briefly at Indian Springs and little RM wasn't around yet. So first, Congrats on Little Rocket Man!

Still a good race and hopefully next year I'll be posting some of those Pathfinder times.

Congrats again on Little RM!

OMG!  You better take that back!  I'm not reading the rest of your RR since it's all just a sham!

I really meant to tell you that I was still in Buckhead, drunk when you were supposed to pick me.   Hole In the Wall rocks at that time of morning...oh wait, they don't let old men in so you wouldn't know.
