Subject: RE: best gogglesI think it really depends on your head and face shape/size. The only kind of goggles that have consistently worked for me have been the Speedo Futura Biofuse. They aren't marketed as "open water" goggles, but the lenses come in different shades (tinted, blue, clear, polarized ) so they are good for different open water conditions as well as the pool. They come in "men's" and "women's" models that differ a bit in size profile, as well as a "junior" model (which fits me, too--woman with fairly small head and big eyes ). Regardless of gender or age, you might want to try the different models in some brands to see what works best. Many triathletes rave about Aquasphere (Kaiman and Kayenne ) but I have never had much luck with them.
The only "Open Water" type goggles that have worked for me have been BlueSeventy's Hydra Vision. 'I've scored a few pairs as race prizes or at race expos, but have a hard time finding them locally either in Saigon or Oregon--would need to order them online. They feel weird (eyes are a bit too far apart for my face ) and not super-comfortable, but the seal holds (in some cases for years ) and I have worn them for most of my ocean tri swims. Like the Futura, they come in several different lens colors, including yellow, which is really useful in low light conditions. |
