Master 2759 Los Angeles, CA | Subject: RE: Run 100 miles in July! 35.28 miles. Finally made it to at least 20mpw this week, yay! Also did a bike FTP test on trainer yesterday and I increased my FTP by 5 watts above my test results 6 weeks ago. What's interesting is my LTHR for that gain in fitness was 5bpm less. I'm sure I gave it all I got during the test. Thoughts about that guys? I'm gonna post this in the public forum as well and see if anyone outside this thread has some thoughts too. |

Member 326 | Subject: RE: Run 100 miles in July! 72.49 miles after today's 70.3 race. I have to brag a bit. First time ever for me, I won my AG. Finished 11th overall. 4th best run time (1:38), 6th best swim time. Biking, not so good, 21st. I guess 2 out of 3 isn't that bad. I have a great swim, then get passed by a few dozen people on the bike, then have to work hard to reel them in on the run. |

I had a very similar experience a couple of years ago. First, you're in better shape--which means your heart is stronger too. Second, it is not uncommon to have flux in heart rates on different days. Sometimes it is the accumulation of work that has an impact. I bet you have had those runs where the identical run can have a very heart rate experience (diet, heat, elevation, sun spots an cause flux). Third, are you on any meds that could swing it? Not as likely--but I thought I would ask. Finally, heart rate montiorijng is not perfect and subject to some degree of volatility. My guess is that #1 is the reason--which is a good thing. |

I'm a broken record but I won't make a 100 this month either. Fell hard the other day (thankfully no broken bones) on a rough road and I've really skinned up. I'm going to take a little time to heal and sulk. I also had two basil cells cut off earlier in the week as well as being on the pre-cancer lotion (which causes major breakout and itching) and I just don't have enough in me right now. Sorry to be a weenie. But you guys are doing awesome! |

See you next challenge! 46.22 miles in and closing in on 50 and passing it before this week's over! |

Of all of the things to stress out about, this challenge should not be one of them. |

So this week I twisted my neck. Been to the Chiro four times this week. I had to skip a bunch of workouts--but that was so the right thing to do. I am back on the mend--but cut my long run back this week on Saturday and got my second long run on Sunday in as expected. I just crossed over 118M for the month. I have been in Tucson and running at Sabino Canyon--which has been great. We're waiting my oldest son's first baby to be born--So, I miss some more training days this week. |

Member 326 | Subject: RE: Run 100 miles in July! Long run is in the books. It has been a tough weekend. 102 mile bike yesterday. Easy 65 minute zone 2 bike today to warm up then a 18.16 mile brick run at IM pace (7:55). July's total is 120.62 miles. |

Expert 683 Lafayette, CA | Subject: RE: Run 100 miles in July! Congrats on 120 miles. I got 150 in this month. This the third highest volume month I have ever head (154 and 156). I should have beaten those this month--but I ended heading to Tucson for the birth of my old son's first birthday! Great trade off. |
