Pre-race routine:

Biked home from work, hydrated, skipped a snack which I shouldn't have skipped and drove to the course. Stretched, jogged to warmup, unhydrated (shouldn't have drank THAT much). It rained shortly before the race started, so it was a little humid, but the sun came out and made it REALLY hot for the start.
Event warmup:

Stretched, jogged 1/4 mile, stretched some more.

Comments:

Nice course, across Boulder Res dam and back. One small dip/hill near the start/finish.
What would you do differently?:

I shouldn't have drank as much prior to the race, but it didn't cause major discomfort. I'm disappointed in my overall time, but this was a 'B' race - no taper at all. I had hoped for 27:30, but the heat sapped my energy. I suppose that it's not a 'bad' time for a B race, after a full day's work and riding my bike to and from work.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked 1/2 mile, mingled with friends, then home to EAT! I didn't have any food from about 2:00pm until after the race, and I should have eaten something about 5:30-5:45. I'll make sure to bring a snack bar or two next time.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat really sapped me. I was unfamiliar with the course, but it was very open. And WINDY! Ran the small hill well, I felt like I maintained my goal pace, but the wind definitely impacted me on the way out. I should have skipped my run last night, but I finished, and I ran more tonight that a lot of my friends will run this week, so I feel pretty good overall.

Event comments:

The Dash & Dine series is sponsored by Fleet Feet in Boulder, and really draws a 'core' group of runners. I may run both of the remaining races this summer, but the whole series would be an excellent way to work on improving times and technique. I may have to do the whole series next summer.
