I'm back in.  While I really didn't lose anything on the last challenge, I didn't gain and checking in here once a week at least made me conscious of my weight.

And being Catholic, I do the giving up stuff thing.  Gave up all sweets last year (with the exception of a slice of birthday cake on my birthday) but compensated in other ways (unfortunately).  This year is going to kick though!

Aloha Scott

I'd be honoured to be included once again. The group gave me such support last time. I do warn you I am not catholic and so the group may be in danger of being smitten with thunder bolts!

I would also like to join.  I still need to decide what I want to give up.

I'd love to join! This would be my first. I'm not Catholic, nor do I plan to give anything up. When I give things up, it makes me crave them until there is a tornado of them going down my throat. I am just trying to give up overeating and focus on moderation and portion control.

I have lost 15 pounds recently, but still have 134 to go!

Count me in!!!

Just wondering if people are interested in a daily check-in for the challenge?  I seem to be more accountable when I check in daily, as opposed to just once a week.  It doesn't have to be a weigh-in every day - maybe just a "hey, yesterday was <insert>, here's my plan for today..." kind of stuff.  ???

I'm in -- I've wanted to get in one of these since I started on the board in Dec.

Add another Protestant to the unPC challenge (United Methodist). Though I usually try to start a healthy discipline for Lent rather than giving something up!

hey all,

I am in, as a lazy Catholic I could probably stand to get some weight loss (want to drop about 25 lbs) and some religion back in my life

I just thought maybe each day we could start with a "here's how I'm doing post."  Maybe post your plan for the day (food, workouts, etc.) and then the next day you can say how the day before went and what your plan for that day is.  Somehow I am always more accountable when I'm checking in more frequently.  Just a thought....

Add me in also. A fellow catholic here, but i'm giving up TV for lent and hoping to replace with more spiritual activities. I still have 14- 19 lbs to go before I reach my goal of 140-145. I also like the idea of a daily check in.

I'm cool w/ daily check-ins (though I would probably miss a day here or there), but daily weigh-ins would be a no go for me.  I don't weigh myself everyday for sanity's sake, and don't even own my own scale.

If everybody is ok with it, I will put together a list of people who want to play and then divide them.   I will also post the "rules" for the competition i.e. length of time - weigh-in date etc.    I am thinking of starting 2-5-07 and tunning through April 9,(the Monday after Easter) Let me know if this is a good length of time.

I think the first step will be a weigh-in on Monday.I will do a template Sunday night for the weigh-in and based upon who weighs in I will    set up teams.  I will probably need to know your weight - your goal weight - What if anything you plan to give up or plan to actively do during the length of the challenge - how experienced you are at racing and what your "A" race is this year.   Also let me know if you are a person who would like daily accountability.  I can also set up spreadsheets for the teams to track the % of goal that the team and individuals have reached.

Let me know if this is OK or if there are other ideas which should be bantered around or implemented.  Also, we need a Challenge Name - since I am not very creative I cannot be in charge of this

I'm totally in. Lost 22lbs in the winter challenge but I still have another 30-40 I would like to take off for the summer. Keep me posted on what I need to do to be involved.

Oh, and definitely not Catholic, but I lived in Brazil for two years and had Cod on Friday. It was not very tasty, of course it was broiled and not fried. Fried sounds much better.

How about the Non-Denominational Lenten Challenge? A bit long?
Are there enough interested that teams are necessary? Just my two cents, but I actually like it when the group is quite large. So many people tend to drop out of challenges (especially winter ones) that if we do teams we run the risk of having a 4-person team come Easter (or Spring Festival of choice.)

since some of the team members want to be on the same teams, i propose we leave the teams as is from the winter challenge, allowing new folks to hop in to the team for their region. is everyone okay with this?

i love the idea of one big team, because we usually loose the most lbs by dropping whole participants (ha ha), but since so many people try to lose this time of year (we had 5+ teams going for various challenges), maybe we can plan for that for next time? as we get closer to racing season, few people will be trying to drop weight.

so, do we assume the same captains? i for one would love to continue w/ our fearless midwestern leader. scott, thanks for all your work getting the last two challenges organized and rolling!

I'm in! I bailed on my fellow B-East weight losers last challenge because I was pi**ed I gained weight, despite training 6 days a week.  I've become totally frustrated, but won't quit.
