Expert 935 South eastern Ohio | Subject: Spring Weigh in 3/12/07 Good morning all, I guess I'm up first. Or just not too busy this morning. So I'll start. Wt last week: 177.4 lbs Wt this week: 176.0 lbs that is -1.4 lbs and -5 lbs for the Challenge. Now for the question: We tend to focus on what we can change and all but my question is..... What do you like about your body since you have started to train for tri's?? I like the fact that I feel strong, and have muscle tone. I don't want to be "skinny" just strong and fit. I like that people see me as an athlete not a couch potato. And that my kids and grand kids and especially my hubby are very proud of their "Tri Mom,Grandmom and Wife" Even my Mom is watching Tri's and actually asked me what my HR was in my last bike session. I absolutely love the fact that I can roll out of bed and run a half marathon, if I so chose to. I love that when I'm walking up a flight or two of stairs with my friends, that I'm the one not out of breath. I love the fact that at 37 I'm in the best shape that I've been since high school. And now, with the help of this challenge, I love the fact that I'm starting to get down to a weight that will allow me to keep all this up for a long time to come. |

Things are going in the right direction though FINALLY! What do you like about your body? The fact that I am stronger than just about anybody I know. That I can go out on a 3 hour ride and it is no big deal. The fact that I HAVE muscle tone. Now, I'm just waiting for it to show up. The only thing I don't like is that I still haven't finally lost the weight - but I'm working on that. |

My leg muscles are getting stronger everyday. I feel better in general about my body and about my health. This week is a bit of a surprise. I didn't miss a workout. I guess I could have eaten better but I could say that every week. I didn't lose anything but I feel better in general. |

Saturday when I was at the Rec Center for my swim, they were hosting a kids VB tourney. All the shirts had a quote from Arthur Ashe. The gist of it is 'Success is not in the destination, but in the journey, who you become how you grow and what you achieve along the way'. I started thinking about that and realized that my Journey to Ironman, which I started about three and a half years ago has already been a success. Just looking at my body in the mirror, I see the improvement and the possiblities of where it can still go. I have gone from 247 and 33% BF to a little over 200 and around 20%. I have made better food choices, expanded my palatte and want to eat better (usually). There are scores of other "little" improvements too. And the great thing is, I am still on the journery, there is more to grow into, more to realize, more to accomplish and then new goals to set. TEAM: Abekat Anarchy |

I actually have muscle tone in my arms and shoulders. I tend to lose weight from the top down - first in my shoulders and back, then my upper abs and waist, and my trouble spots (mommy-tummy and hips) last. I'm seeing TONS of change in my upper body (I'm wearing all my bras on the inner-most hooks now!!!) and I have visible triceps for the first time in my life. |

Only 1 pound to go to my goal for the challenge, now lets see how much I can beat my goal by. My goal equated to a pound a week for the challenge. I still struggled to get my workouts in last week. Missed 2 for the week. I got to stop doing that! What do you like about your body since you have started to train for tri's?? I still dont look the way I want to, but I dont think I will start lookoing that way until I start getting down around 210 and below. Ideally I would like to end up around 190 or so. To make up for it I got up this morning and registered for Tri 101. Ya'll can either post me as a 9 weight loss for the week or add me in on wednesday. Either way I'll post the weight here so I can stay accountable. What do I like about my body since I have started to train for tri's? To many things to list. The main one is the extra energy I have. I can knock out a good long distance run in the morning and still have plenty of energy to work and play with my kids the rest of the day. My wife say's she likes my legs! So I'm engaged and will be gaining 120 lbs on the 18th of May. I won't try to lose this weight though. What I like since I started to train for tri's. I don't like much about my body right now, but I do like the way I feel after a long hard workout. I like that though I am a bit tubby, I can run farther and faster than most the people in my aerobics class. And I do like that the weight is coming off since my surgery and that I can now walk and run, and now just limp. There's a few things. Team: Monkey Madness. |

I have a long way to go and need to set more short term goals for myself so that I can actually measure the progress that I am making instead of just looking at the long term..seemingly unobtainable goals. |
