Swim
  • 06m 5s
  • 273 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

Warmed up in the side pool for about 25 minutes. Past two swimmers during the course. Decided while I was getting out to hop out on the wall as the stairs are at an odd angle. As I was pulling myself out I scrapped my knee and proceeded to bleed the entire bike.
What would you do differently?:

Try and get my breathing under control. I go out too fast and have trouble catching my breath the rest of the time.
Transition 1
  • 03m 59s
Comments:

This was a bit long because of all the extra clothes I stuck on. The temperature was only in the thirties. Plus I forgot to unclip my bike shoes when we got there.
Bike
  • 53m 44s
  • 11.5 miles
  • 12.84 mile/hr
Transition 2
  • 01m 32s
Comments:

Unclipped my shoes on the way back too early. I am still paranoid about falling off at the mount line.
Run
  • 21m 46s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

Was a pretty good run for me.
What would you do differently?:

Take off my extra bike shorts.
Post race
Warm down:

My oldest went and got me a cup of hot chocolate. After all the wind and still being wet it was exactly what I needed.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I am having trouble with my breathing. I feel like my muscle are in shape and I seem to have to slow down and break to catch my breath. If I could get that under control I feel my performance would increase.

Well done! It looks like you have a full season planned. You should consider the Ramblin' Rose in the fall - my wife did it last year and we had a lot of fun.

I guess I'm just a big baby with the cold weather.  You handled it like a pro.

Way to start off 2007 with a GREAT RACE!  You're awesome!

Great start to the season!

Hey Denise!

What an awesome race! The first one of the year is the toughest (and REALLY tough in those conditions) but you did great. Janet is doing a the bike portion of a relay at White Lake so I HAVE to show her that you did the whole race..Congratulations!
