Sunny
Total Time = 1h 11m 46s
Overall Rank = 69/161
Age Group = F30-34
Age Group Rank = 1/8
Pre-race routine:

got up and loaded bikes, drank coffee, had english muffin with peanut butter. then in the car for the 1hr drive to site. nice and sunny but 30degrees out. registered, port-o-john, road bike around, setup bike transition, port-o-john, ran around and lined up for start.

mistake was taking off warmup clothes too early. felt good initially, but then the start was a little late so I was shivering and goose bumps at the start.
Event warmup:

rode bike around for several minutes, checked gearing
ran a couple of pickups
then froze
Run
  • 14m 30s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

legs were really cold. and never really got into a rhythm
What would you do differently?:

stay warm before the start. do more pickups closer to start
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

I switched to my MTB shoes so took a couple of seconds longer then last time
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 40m 36s
  • 10 miles
  • 14.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Did great on the grass and road sections, but I am a bit timid on the gravel and sand sections. I was really happy with how I did on the single track since that is where I normally suck the most.
What would you do differently?:

ride my MTB more
Transition 2
  • 00m 39s
Comments:

overall good
Run
  • 15m 1s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

took a couple of minutes to get my legs but then felt ok. a little bit of a side stitch. but otherwise ok.
What would you do differently?:

not sure
Post race
Warm down:

walked around, ate a banana and an orange. waited for awards.

4th place woman and won my age group (really second in age group but they don't double dip with the 1-3 place women)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

MTB riding and not being warmed up enough

Event comments:

This is a great race for the cause and the different type of race. The course is not too challenging, but it is fun. There was one issue with the course: no one directing people into the single track trail so about 5 riders were passing by on the road as I was coming out the trail. meaning they did not do the trail. karma will get back to them:)

good music and very friendly atmosphere! will be back
