Pre-race routine:

Bagel, Peanut butter and gatorade at about 4:30 am ...man I hate getting up early but it is always fun to go traveling with g8r she always makes it a blast
Event warmup:

well the warm up consisted of to main events: 1. trying to figure out where to leave my pump as the special needs table was being used by the photographers. Which caused me to get over to race start very late and I still need to get my chip and get into my wetsuit. 2. helpin g8r get her wetsuit which is lots of fun. she does not think so but it is in my book :)

Comments:

I am glad yesterday I did a practice swim and remembered I actually had to site as I almost swam into the Pier. The course was great could not ask for better conditions.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to be more aggresive as I tend to back down in crowds.

Comments:

What would you do differently?:

  • 1h 29m 23s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 14m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

did not hydrate or eat enough on the bike so really was low on energy when I hit the run. Funny I saw the ambulance go by not know the issues yert to come.
What would you do differently?:

eat and drink more
Post race
Warm down:

got a nice ice towel and a Gatorade...headed to the food tent and went back to camp out and wait for Wendi to finish. After it hit about the 4 hour mark I started to worry so started asking all of the BT gang if anyone had seen her finish... no one had so I ran back to about mile five....when I got back in quite a panic now found Sue who said she was the one in the ambulance. So called her and she was on the road to recovery... she did everything she could to get a hold of me but what a scary 30 minutes or so...

Event comments:

not a better race going and the party afterwards is even better... just wait til next year

Congrats on Nice Race!

Scary moments looking for Wendi...glad she is okay...#1 thing!

Excellent at putting your pump on in T1...helps keep you healthy racing right?

Sounds like we are similar on the swim....the conditions were excellent. Nutrition on the bike is so key for a good run; you'll get it dialed in.

Nice to see you again; it was a great fun weekend!

You made sense, for a G8R.   Great race, Mike.  Glad things, in the end, worked out as well as they did for you and the fam.  Awesome weekend of G8R racing.

Nice race Mike.  Glad you remember you pump.  Guess we just have to get on you before every race.  Glad you Sue and Rick were able to help you find Wendi, sounds like she had a pretty rough race at the end.
