Total Time = 2h 03m 39s
Overall Rank = 226/227
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 21/21
Pre-race routine:

Hung out with the Colorado B.T. crew and our honorary member Coredump who flew from Chicago to see his Denver parents and decided to do an Oly at the Fall Chill. It was wonderful to see Kim, Stacey, Mary, Kathy, Chris, Jeff and Joe. The B.T. crew was strong! We took photos and did convo and just encouraged each other.
I ate two bananas before leaving the hotel and had some gatorade.
Event warmup:

Did a swim warm up for the first time at a race. I think I'll keep do it. It helped to release the nervous tension that I had.
Swim
  • 22m 23s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim was slower than I expected. But I'm not too disappointed. I was middle of the road on this one. It was awkward since many folks ran quite a ways before they swam and others (like me) just swam the whole way. I don't know if it would have improved my time if I had ran.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe run more on the start
Transition 1
  • 04m 7s
Comments:

Ok this was much better than my Rattlesnake T1. I gotta see my times but Joe sprayed me down with Pam before and my wetsuit came right off. Did a fast walk to the T1 and was on my way.
This was way better than Rattlesnake. I think two minutes of this time was just getting to the darn transition area from down on the beach. I was much better at taking off the wetsuit and putting on my biking gear and heading for the exit. Woo Hoo. My goal next season is to get my T1 down to three minutes.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. Maybe learn to run on sand!
Bike
  • 53m 3s
  • 12.3 miles
  • 13.91 mile/hr
Comments:

I suck on bike.
What would you do differently?:

Not suck on bike. I need a new bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

This was fast as usual. I need to get this down to under a minute. I mean geez all I gotta do is replace my bike strip off my helmet and start running.
Run
  • 42m 45s
  • 3 miles
  • 14m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran more than I have ever run on a tri. Gotta see my times but I think I did the run in just over 40.I was correct. I did the run in 42 minutes which is my best time for a run ever on a 5k. Rather I was running a single 5K, a duathlon or a triathlon I've never had a run time under 44 min. So I pretty proud of myself. That said I came in last on the run and second to last overall (mostly because of the run) but that's OK. I wanted to run the 5k in less than 45 and I did it. I know that may not seem that much to anyone else but I'll be beaming the whole day.
Post race
Warm down:

Collasped???? No hung out with B.T. crew again. And they ran outta' free beer. Not that I was drinking but still the nerve!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

In all my tri's I've been saving a little of myself. I mean come on how many 220 pound women do you know haul their butt through water land and valleys for fun. But now that I've done four triathlons I know that I can give a little more. So next year I must push myself more. I'm in shape enough that I can do it without injury. I'm over the I did it phase. Now I really want to compete. I want to win my swim heats and get my run down to 30 min. The bike, ah well, I need help on improvement.

Event comments:

Boo Hoo. I never thought I would say this but I'm so sad that I won't be swimming, biking and running a 5K in one day until May. This was a great end to a wonderful season. I improved in every area of the tri and had a great time meeting the Colorado B.T. crew. Thanks Kathy for driving up and bringing the baby. I had so much fun. You guys are so sweet and wonderful and you are all my heroes. God bless you and keep you and your families. I love triathlons and I love B.T.com

Just got my race time. My time of 2:03 was more than 22 minutes faster than my last sprint tri of the same distance. I know the flat course on the bike had something to do with it. But wow. So now next year I'm going to work on finishing in under two hours. One hour and forty-five minutes if I'm really feeling frisky.

Course: The swim was a mass start in shallow water. Some folks walked for more than 50 meters. I of course swam the whole way since I swim faster than I can walk! :) I Was a BOPer for the first 250 but after rounding that first buoy I kicked some major booty! I'll have to see my times but I kicked butt. Passed a whole lotta people. After seeing my times this was slower than Danskin. But I did pass a lot of people in my wave and a lot of folks that went before me so all in all I did better.

You rock O!  I had a blast!  But you must've been doing 90 through Denver to get back to your computer!

I know I just saw that! Woo Hoo. If I'd registered as a SA I would have won 3rd place in my category. Oh well. Don't mind being last place in my age group since I make my PB by 22 min! Woo Hoo. I can't wait to see my splits. I know my bike time will be faster but I'm curious to see my run time. Yeahhhh!
