OK, she finally turned off the "private" on her training log. I left an inspire.

Tom... good luck to you on the double man! YOU CAN DO IT!

Holy crap!! Relatively speaking, 7.2 miles swimming sounds easy, a phrase I cannot believe I just wrote. The 336 straight miles on a bike seems really tough, but I guess if you had the right pacing and nutrition it could be done. It seems even tougher that it is 68 loops instead of a long course. However, follow that up with 79 miles of running??? Forget the ambulance, just have those people in white coats ready with straight jackets.

Do people sleep at all? What do they eat? How many masochists do this event a year?

I am impressed. Good luck and have fun!

WOW! The race resumes of some of those competitors are ridiculous!! I don't know how they do it! Truly amazing.

Well, until you've done the deca-ironman in Mexico, I won't be impressed

Just kidding... wow, thatz crazy

I found a Double Deca on line.  I think it took the guy 15 days plus to win.

48 miles swimming, 2240 miles biking, 524 miles running. In 15 days? I say bs.

my friend got 2nd in a 6 day race and she did little less than 400 miles. I would say prove me wrong. If I am wrong then Gina should finish in flying colors. .

Here is the link that show it was actually 18 days.  I agree it sounds like BS but I think even attempting more than a single IM is crazy so who knows.  I think it is possible though.

Swim - 1mph = 2 days
Bike - 12mph = 7.8 days
Run - 3mph = 7.2 days
Total = 17 days so that leave 1 day to sleep.

Again, not saying it is BS but possible for the right person.

yeah 18 sounds more responible. You will sleep but also more likely travel alot faster per day.

I read a deca race report. took the guy like 2 years to recover the race.

I still think triple is great and Gina has all my respect. Then again looking at her on that page I have to go wow she is cute. I will admit I do have endurance goggles.

For those interested, I'll try to keep this updated throughout the day.  I have my own race Sunday and won't be able to continue past Saturday morning.  Maybe somebody else can pick it up for Gina (grvfrog), Tom (madcow), and Tony (aluminum1) from Saturday on.

At 2 hours, Gina is almost half-way finished with the swim, putting her on pace to finish the swim in about 4:20:00.

Ok, Gina is out of the water in 4:18:00.  She is currently on the 2nd lap of the bike and on the same lap as 3 of the other female competitors.  Oh, and this would be the lead lap for the females!

As a wild guess, I'd say the 203 hours she's spent in the saddle YTD.

Thank for the updates, Clint!

How long is one lap?  And when does everyone think she will shake the rest of the competition and take the lead for good?

I can't WAIT to read this race report.

1 lap is around 5 miles.  She finished her first lap with a 19.5 avg.  Fast....too fast.  I'm thinking she'll enter the run as the lead female!

The course record for the bike is 23:13.  So best-case scenario I'm thinking somewhere in the high end of the 22 hours.

I think the laps are fairly short if I remember correct, like maybe 5 miles each but I could be wrong.

I justed check the website and each loop is just under 5 miles so probably 67 total loops?  Sounds like a blast!!!!

I don't think her logs actually have all her hours/miles training in them. She will often ride to the start of a long ride, do the ride and ride home....riding for 12+ hours.

She is a dedicated athlete...very inspiring!
