Subject: October "Running is Fun" Challenge Update - WEEK 2

Congratulations to everyone for getting through a second week of running inspite of all the little challenges that life throws our way!

After week 2 we now have 137 participants in the challenge due to a few withdrawals from illness and injury. Most of the withdrawals are staying on as team cheerleaders/inspire givers which is phenomenal to see!

It also looks like the penalty for the loosing teams.. it will be a legs pic for the month November... so get creative!!! If you Hate the concept I know not everyone has voted so VOTE... if legs get beaten by something else the poll is open until midnight October 31st!

So I wont stuff around any more...here is a team by team rundown of the week that was:

Bad Omens

The highlight of the week (for me) is TexOma's new avatar... since the team is on track for a win he has taken the opportunity to display his VERY hot legs to BT, he is also back running after a foot injury.Mesteren is out running against the cold rain of a Danish winter (and raced a fabulous 10K), atl_runner was dishing out pure motivation to the team, sparco ran an awesome half mary and tntexpress is super inspired after watching Kona.

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 55.9%

Black Magic

Jszat rocked his 50K (and seems to be recovering well), DeannaS broke the 9min mile mark in training for the first time EVER (Eeeeeaaaw - is that right?), TexasMPgirl hit the 16 mile mark in a single session (and bumped her goal up to 150 AND will be home really soon!) and KenD raced an Olympic on the weekend (woo hoo!).

Also.. extra warm fuzzies for Lara who has been diagnosed with Mono and
is out of the challenge and on recovery... take care hon!

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 51.1%

Creepy Crawlies

Riorio is leading the pack in the team with 61% of her goal already achieves (way to go!!) and Krludwig had a massive week achieving a massive 30% of his challenge goal in the one week. Supporting each other Max and PT Cruzer are cranking out the miles ever single day and
McFuzz is running in between painting the house! Everyone on the team is on track to hit 100%

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 49.3%

Goblins and Gargoyles

Brynn started the week by upping goal his challenge goal (nice), Regimom knocked out a 10mile trail race, wsm9363 PR'd a half marathon (woo hoo! sub 2 hours too), joebowler also raced a half with a 6 minute  PR and lisazapato both runs and cooks. (kind of dangerous???)

Team Average Percentage of Goal:  53.5%

The Living Dead

ExcitedtoTri got her hubby on board as part of the team (welcome to the madness 1for1!), ell-in-or and tritwinmom are battling on despite being sicky, hazmaster took 6th in an urban adventure race and sailing4 took another opportunity to race!

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 58.4%

Monster Mash

Sticking with the silent but deadly personna the team is gearing up for a second half assault on the challenge. BamBam66 is playing it safe on a sore knee (hang in there!), smilford seems to live in a cave, the captain is about to pull up his socks for some MASSIVE numbers and the
team is considering trying some chatter to ramp up to motivation!

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 39.3%

Poison Apples

AmbulanceDriver took a much deserved 'chill' day, lyssa-gator hit the over an hour mark when running (go girl), Fielding is going to learn to LOVE swimming (one day - and develop a love of early mornings), D001 made a shocking comment about loving the dreadmill (and admitted to never ever having seen anything like TAN) and kns57 has been running all over the library.

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 55.0%

Purple People Eaters

Taking the first place position last week set the Purple People Eaters up for a GOOD week.

The running is giving Atlantia ran her first 10miler EVER (and commented how HOT running makes her legs), pipscweek recovered from some late nights (all in the name of fun I hope!), Medusa Ann celebrated her  anniversary (Congrats!) and ScottinSeattle is hanging tough through a stressful week.

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 51.8%

Things That Go Bump in the Night

This team is coming out of their shells with lots of chit chat going on  in the team thread. BunnyB has the coolest emoticons ever (her running bunny from last night makes me giggle),sk2a2005 achieved a race PB (woohoo!), zipp1 had a great weekend race, Lastcall2003 is hotter than younger women, wurkit gurl is about to "hit it" with a new training plan and the team as a whole seems to have taken to posting gratuitous pics of hot men (yummy). That and they sure can talk....

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 49.8%

Vampires

HCS5QA is a very hard core looking man if his avatar s anything to go by but his constant peppy-ness (no thats not a word) and pumped up posts are keeping the team rolling along despite battling an injury (and he even agreed to using one pom pom as cheerleader), captain Jchristoff is using the numbers to keep everyone pumped while running superbly himself, miche033 reckons the team is smokin and DoloresM2 is hanging tough after a difficult week.

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 51.2%

Werewolves (TAN)

WaterDogg66 hang tough through a difficult race on the weekend, Artemis is proving little and often might win this thing, Spokes discovered what happens without proper nutrition on a long run (dude i keep telling ya you need better nutrition), Scout raced again and I think EVERYONE wants the guy to BQ (yes even the opposition)

Team Average Percentage of Goal: 44.9%

Final Standings after Week 2:

1. The Living Dead

2. Bad Omens

3. Poison Apples

4. Goblins and Gargoyles

5. Purple People Eaters

6. Black Magic

7. Vampires

8. Things That Go Bump in the Night

9. Creepy Crawlies

10. Werewolves

11. Monster Mash

In the challenges forum there is now a thread discussing the November challenge so if you are up for another one next month have a think and look at the options being discussed! Otherwise…. If no one else desperately wants the job I’m up for putting together a holiday themed challenge in December (someone remind me I’ve said this in about 6 weeks)

Finally… Apologies from me for the delay in getting up the updates... I could give ALOT of excuses but I’m not going to... I will try and be better next week!

Happy Running
Cat

Never been described as hard core, annoying yes, aggressive yes, bossy yes, everything that comes with being a Leo, but not hard core. Ok, maybe once or twice.

All kidding aside thanks for all you do on this challenge and for the in-depth knowledge of all the teams, You rock! Go Vampires!

Hey, look! It's a fellow Twinkie!

And yes, that is an awesome update. (Although I do NOT really love the treadmill! I just liked the results that I got on it when I changed my stride a bit!)

Yeah good update! Minus the whole calling me a boy thing. It's okay, I'm used to it. Plus people are always calling me Bryan because they can't read my name for some reason. At least you didn't do that!

Go Goblins and Gargoyles!

Cool update Cat. Thanks.

The M*A*S*H team is definitely the strongest team. We're on the bottom holding everyone up.

And hey...nothing wrong with being on the bottom anyway, right?

GREAT UPDATE CAT!

Would you please clarify something for me?  When individual team members get to 100%, we have to stop counting there, correct?  So if someone hits 110% of their average, it's no different than 120% for example?  Just want to make sure, as we've had a lot of people bumping up their goals -- woo-hoo!!!

 Oh, and for you:

Aaw thanks... yup after 100% thats it.... of course you get the pleasure of achieving yuor goal but you cannot achieve more than 100% for your team (and yes I will be checking the spreadsheet before I post the final tallies)

Dont worry, a lot of teams have people upping there goals which is probably a good thing given that running can tear up the body if you aren't conservative with upping your amounts Im not too worried as it means they are feeling strong :)
