  • Comments: Race was done very well. The swim was a the one weak part. I don't know how you fix it. There was a high percentage of swimmers early in the race that had no concept of what there swim time should have been. They were much slower then they signed up for. The were creating congestion in the swimming lanes.

  • Comments: I was disappointed in this race. My training has been going well and all my mistakes were mental. I went hard when I should have paced and paced when I should have went hard. It was cool to race with so many people that I know and I had fun. I should race and never look at the results.

  • Comments: Well, to me this race was all about the improvement. It was my very firs race last year when i had 40 miles of biking all together under my belt and 10 min mile was a "fast" running pace for me. I improved a lot ;) 2007 Reston Sprint time - 01:34:50 Gender 61/101 2008 Reston Sprint time - 01:17:00 Gender 23/197

  • Comments: Setup dropped the ball in this race. Nothing major, lots of minor problems. Lack of awards for the youngest AG, bad post race food, not turning on all the timing mats, and clearing out the aid stations before the last finisher was complete.

  • Comments: I think the race course was okay. The organization left something to be desired. I was really frustrated that the aid stations on the run were not there. The race didn't have a time cut off, so I would expect that even the last runners would be supported. There was no aid station on the out or the back, so I think maybe the last 10 or so finishers (cause I passed about 10 people at least that were coming back as I was going out) didn't have aid stations on the run. That's pretty sucky on a sunny day. Especially if like me, you were expecting water on the run so you were planning on using that for hydration and didn't bring anything with you.

  • Comments: I think it was a fun race. I raced it last year and was the 5th female finisher with a time of 1:18. It was neat to see all the same people who raced it last year put in faster times. I'm not sure if we all trained harder, or if we were just more familiar with the course. It was definitly more competitive this year. I would do this race again...just plan on hitting up the California Tortilla across the road for my post race re-feul (mmmm, blackened chicken caesar).

  • Comments: Very pleased w/ my first tri of the year. Last year I did 2 and was in the bottom third of overall women and age group. At Reston I was in the top half of both. I'm ready to attck the Hagerstown course. I beat my basic goal time of 1:27:30 by 16 seconds.

  • Comments: I think they need to fix the computer that keeps track of the entry times for the swim. I wasnt the only one who was put in a slower group. I am angry because I am faster then the time I got. They need to fix that.

  • Comments: Set-Up Events always does a good job. One reason why I skipped the two races closer to home and made the drive for this one. Decent food after the race, lots of places for a massages, the awards were timely, and people were friendly and helpful. My only complaint is with packet pick-up: there was no race day pick-up and it closed the day before at 3PM, making it difficult to get there from out of town- seemed very tailored for locals.

  • Comments: Nice course, great volunteers but it really lacked in the aid station dept (ran out of water on the run late in the race) and the post race food was poor (bagels, oranges, heed and water only).

  • Comments: Unfortunately Setup didn't bring/have all the awards to the race, so some people got them, others didn't.. they didn't have the 10-14 y/o awards, which I think are the most important to have.. that is the sports future and you want them to enjoy/love the experience.

  • Comments: Fun race. Lots of volunteers - well-organized for such an urban area. SOOO glad they coned off a lane for us on the bike :) First one of the season for me, so no real goals - just gotta get out there and keeping doing it. I think this season will just be "race as much as I can, to get used to racing". At least I managed to land in a decent place overall. Next year, I can probably bump that standing up a bit.
