  • Comments: This is always my favorite race. It is the first time in 9 years that I had to do it as a Duathlon. River was too high and had too much debris floating in it. The 0.9 mile run was not bad at all.

  • Comments: A really nice race! Easy open water swim, pretty bike, shaded run. And they have oreos as post-race food. Every race should have oreos!

  • Comments: Odd swim start with long National Anthem for Wave 1, we were still entering the water at the start... The later waves was probably better. Fun run course through the park with on and off trail.

  • Comments: Good first tri. A bit wary of changes to course day before the race and poor marking of the course the day before the race when I wanted to reconnoiter. After finishing, I was a bit confused about where to go or what to do. Would be very good race if I'd lived in the area and had been able to participate in swims and rides in the weeks leading up to the race and had known a bit more what to expect, or if I'd had a friend along who had done this race before. Always good to see United Athletes and support for them.

  • Comments: Plenty of volunteers this time - and most seemed to be very good. The post-race food was nasty, though - I remember it being much better in years past. Soggy paper plates with coleslaw and pulled pork (not on buns) seems like stupid post-race food. Plus there were multiple bones in my pork which really turned me off. That, and I'd much rather have diet Coke than coconut water.

  • Comments: This was my first tri. I really love it from that standpoint. My only complaints are that it started a little late and that the traffic on the bike course was a bit much. Other than that, excellent race.

  • Comments: This is my favorite race in Richmond. I hate to say it but the swim is too easy now. For a sprint the bike is longer than normal and has a big hill and the run is challenging due to the trail running but the swim is too short and should have some upriving portion to make it more difficult. In its original format it was more of a gap filler between a standard spring and an olympic distance race. I still love it though and will continue to do it every year I can.

  • Comments: I enjoyed this race thoroughly and my only complaint was the swim was shortened a week before the event from 650m to 400m. I'd been training for 650 since January and was disappointed at not getting the chance to see how I'd do. Other than that everything was great.

  • Comments: I had fun doing a relay with friends. I think in retrospect I might have been able to do the whole day, but I know my competitive nature would have put my legs in danger on the run. 9 months of PT was more than enough for me.

  • Comments: Fun race. Looking forward to doing this again next year, and crushing my time. I had race goals of: Swim @ 8 minutes Bike @ 1 hour Run @ 30 minutes. But for blip on the running, happy with the race. Motivates me to get back in shape for future races.

  • Comments: The course was just awesome, the volunteers were awesome, the post race food was awesome. The prizes and swag were a bit lame. The swag was just a T-shirt. Trinona in MINN we got shirt, backpack, water bottle and a free beer coupon at the local tavern. THe prizes were fleece blankets with I love the tavern on them. If I lived in RIchmond would I do it again, yes. Fun race. Loved the run through the woods and the river swim. Nice to meet Dano from the Richmond Tri club.

  • Comments: I love this race, and I love RMS. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that team in training was on the course this year. They gave me quite a boost on the hill. But I do NOT love the new timing company...I want to know how my individual events match up. I suppose I can do it by hand...but isn't that part of what I pay for??? (Fine I went back, uploaded everything into Excel, and figured out my placings cause I'm a nerd.)

  • Comments: I love this race! I can't even complain about anything this year since they had two waves for the women and more porta-potties. I also like the fact that they let us get back in the water when we're done, unlike other races. Prior to starting the race, we were a little confused about the swim and not sure what was going on. Perhaps a louder announcement would have clarified things, as I was hearing so many things secondhand. I went about five minutes faster this year than last year! No, not quite the same race (the swim...), but that's pretty good!

  • Comments: Not prepared enough for this race. There is one major hill on the bike course right before the turn around. I didn't have much left on the way in and it hurt me on the run.

  • Comments: I was very happy with my performance in my first triathlon. I was extremely nervous going in. We (my friend who did this as her first one with me) said we just wanted to finish, but I really wanted to race it. It went really well (even the bike, considering). I think I'm hooked. Apparently the triathlon dieties were also pleased because the grocery store was giving out free ice cream...I don't believe that is just a coicidence. Drove home and spent the day watching sports (soccer, tennis, track, and swimming) guilt-free... Doesn't get much better than that. I guess I am now OFFICIALLY a triathlete!!
