  • Comments: Really a fun race with great support and a well organized event. The post-race was a lot of fun and there was more to do than the typical race on Oahu. I highly recommend it and would only advise that you get there early to park.

  • Comments: This was a really well organized race. The swim wasn't crowded. The transitions were well planned. The run was a little rote with the loops, but allowed for plenty of shade which was nice.

  • Comments: No toilet paper in bathrooms, no gatorade on run. Nice medal, towel and visor. Ugly shirt. I won't do this race again too many tourists entered, course boring

  • Comments: So my goal was to improve on my Olympic time last year of 3:08:11. I really wanted to get under 3 hours. I CRUSHED it! 2:46:21. I'm still so happy. Granted last year was Quassy and the hills killed me there, however, not having an off season this winter really helped my bike. I think I'll go smile some more. :)

  • Comments: Despite being a sour puss about how this race went, I'm very pleased all things considered. I made my #1 goal, which was not to shit my pants...and honestly, I'm just glad I was well enough to even toe the line. I PR'd by over 10 minutes, and only missed my goal time by a little over 3 minutes. On a good day...pushing even 225 watts, and having a little more motivation on the run, I think sub 2:20 would have been a walk in the park. Either way, the real goal is Honu. What I did learn is that I can sustain a pretty good speed at 180-190 watts...and that wattage goals may not be that important to having your best race for a given day. If I went strictly by wattage today...I would have blown up the bike by mile 10.

  • Comments: I am generally pleased with how I performed given the amount of effort I've put into training this year. Work has been crazy and I just haven't given as much as I should have. The swim gave me some confidence that I will survive in Kona in 3 weeks. I won't blaze any trails or set any speed records, but I think I'll complete the course. I like this race and if anything, I'm disappointed more in myself in the poor preperation. I kick myself when I realize what I could have accomlished if I had even given half an ounce of real effort to train.

  • Comments: Considering that I finished this year's race about a minute over last year when it was a duathlon, I'm extremely pleased with how I did. I was almost 40 minutes faster than I was at my last olympic triathlon (2009 Lavaman Waikoloa). I might have lost some 10 minutes between last year's opening 5k and the swim this year, but I nearly made up for it in both the bike and run.

  • Comments: This is a must do race for me every year. It was so well run from start to finish. They must have used 1000 cones to mark the course...and the difference between the sprint, DU, and Oly races was clearly marked with different color cones. TONS OF VOLUNTEERS...all of them encouraging you as the passed my. I wanted to yell out "you don't know what you're missing" a few times...but kept it to myself.

  • Comments: Was what I expected for a small local race not a race that has been big and run for years and years. Plus the planning if the race around the box jellyfish was poor and could have been prevented. This race is also way overpriced for what you get organization wise. Still waiting on a finisher plaque for Military category. I will do this race in the future only because it has a flat fast bike course.

  • Comments: Like others, was disappointed this turned into a duathlon. Would have liked at least another drink station on the 10k course.

  • Comments: Disappointed that this turned into a du from the original tri format, but was a good race for me. Too bad there were so many in my age group that likewise had a good race else I might have placed better in my AG. Note: If I had performed at the same paces during the sprint, I would have been top 10 and would have wn my age group.
