  • Comments: Besides the run, I enjoyed the race. It taught me about the importance of bricks during training. Taught me that open water swimming is not as scary as I anticipated. The secret is learning how to relax in the water. The most important thing I learned was to HYDRATE, even when I don't feel thirsty.

  • Comments: I owe my completed swim and the decision to not quit to Houstonrider. Thanks a million! If it were not for his brief pep talk prior to starting here would be a big fat DNS by my name. Despite a slow swim I had a decent race. I had a goal of 1:35:30 to meet and I beat it by about 6 minutes. No more 16 oz pre-race coffee for me. I'll reduce or completely cut the amount of caffeine I consume before a race especially ones with warm water.

  • Comments: I liked this race. The course is great and has the ability to be fast. The only thing I would like to see is a few more drink stations on the run. Otherwise good race and I will be back next year.

  • Comments: Last year was my first and I raced in the clyde division. This year I am still 215, but I wanted to race in the AG for different reasons. I told my wife I was secretly hoping to have my ass handed to me today so maybe I would not be so competitive. She then reminded me I said I would be in at 1:16 on a great day. Well now I need to train harder not just to make up the :19 I missed 3rd place, but the 2:19 I missed 1st (assuming there is an elite/invatational wave). I did tell her if she lets me keep training hard I promised her a trip to Kona before I stop TRIing. I wish we would have had a meet n great, but maybe next year.

  • Comments: Overall a very good (great) race. Aaron and Ben did a great job. Last year the race good, and this year it was even better. The RD really seems to be taking feedback seriously and every race seems to be improving.

  • Comments: Wow. This was an incredible event all around. Great communication leading up to the race through email/website, great race swag, great local venue - I enjoyed not having to travel out of town to participate in a well-run/high quality race. Lots of little details that you would expect to find at a larger event, but without the impersonal atmosphere that comes with larger races. The volunteers were all very friendly and encouraging, even police and photographers were calling out "good job" or "doing great" And I think a well organized event puts other races in a good mood too, there was a great sense of camaraderie and encouragement from other races. Definitely the highlight so far of my tri career!

  • Comments: Great event ! You could tell the director put alot thought into the event. Thank you for having gatorade at the end. I've been at too many races and its just water (sometimes warm water at that) I like the age group ranking on each leg of the results, but would still like to see the overall results on each leg as well.

  • Comments: My average HR for the entire race was 168, in mid Z4. I felt great at the end--better than I've ever felt for any race--even some shorter sprints. So I think my heart rate zones are set appropriately. Ready for the Prairie Man Half-Iron on Sept 12.

  • Comments: Very nice race and a great post race area. I talked to a couple of the guys that ended up just beating me out and it was nice to hear that they were trying to catch me on the bike the entire time up until about a mile to go. At least I can say the swim gave me that little bit of an advantage. Can't wait to see what Ben and Aaron have in mind for the Houston Tri in September, its going to be my first attempt at the Olympic distance!

  • Comments: Onurleft did a great job. I thought they did well last year but it was even better this year! Great post race food/festivities, well marked course, lots of volunteers and nice swag. They really try to listen to the community of triathletes.

  • Comments: RD really listens to race feedback and makes changes. This is a very well run race with everything an athlete could ask for. If you ever wanted to start your own business though there is a definite need for a company in Houston who can time races effectively. I left at 10:25 not knowing my times. There was only one posting once I finished, no updates and timing sheets were in a stack on the table held down with a cowbell and they kept getting blown away. It seems once half the field is finished the timing guys figure that is enough and stop.

  • Comments: Aaron has improved the race by a ton from last year. He has listened to the feedback of the athletes and implemented every valid issue/suggestion I've heard. It started with a great packet pickup, well executed race, great post race and awards. I look forward to his future races and hope to be back at this one next year.

  • Comments: Very well organized race except for a nitpick of the mount/dismount line not being clear...maybe that was just me. Post race activities looked good. Looking forward to doing this again in 2011...with a better run.

  • Comments: This race was incredible. It had the vibe of an Ironman branded event (although I have only been to one). Aaron and team did an awesome job at pulling all the feedback in from the last race and making nearly everything happen that could be done to make it better. The timing folks dropped the ball a bit again but I wouldn't hold that against the RD. Food, course set up , transition, drinks, music, awards, SWAG in the packet...excellent. Hopefully this run won't kick my tail next time - I plan to take another shot at this course next year.

  • Comments: Nice safe course, lots of volunteers. Plenty of aid stations and refreshments. Minor drawbacks - lots of walking (from T1 to swim start) and volunteers not knowing where to send you for the swim start. Womens' shirts were awesome, but not listed as an option on the registration site, so getting a shirt that is too small is a bit frustrating. Overall, great race. I'll be back here with a PR in 2011!

  • Comments: Race goals were: 1) see how my body felt from the hard weeks training and couple days easy. 2) I knew I could do 1:15, hoped for 1:10-11 and 1:09 was my dream goal. 3) Take the AG win.
