  • Comments: Kind of disappointed in the organization of this race. Typically this race company puts on a good race, and while things weren't horrible, they started very late and were desperately lacking volunteers. All that being said, I will likely do this race again next year, as this is an anomaly with this company.

  • Comments: So much going on at swim start with the womans and mini tri it really slowed up the start this time. Lot's of racers on the course. Lots of rookies. Hey we all learned at one point.

  • Comments: Very well run race by HFP racing. Now why doesn't anyone serve breakfast at the big season-ending races? That would be perfect.

  • Comments: Had some timing chip / timing calculation issues on site, but they had everything on-line the very next day & promised to mail out medals, so hopefully it's all good. Lots of people at the event. Always a popular one...

  • Comments: Last year my time was 1:25:50. I figured I could beat 1:25, and be in the low 1:20's. However, I was really hoping I could crank it up and beat 1:20. I couldn't believe I came so close! Other than training better, the transitions were dreadful. Even with last year's slow transition times, I would have picked up 40 seconds and beaten 1:20. Lesson learned. Good organization by HFP. Definitely more volunteers this year than a year ago. Had an aid station half way through the run that was missing last year, and the registration line never seemed to get too long. Not bad at all for 700 or so racers.

  • Comments: I will do this race again, love the place, the weather, and the hilly course now that I know it. In general I'm very happy (except the bike shoes problem) because my goal was to improve over my first triathlon and i did! 50 minutes off is a good start. Looking to train in the off season to have a great '09 season. Thanks to everyone for the cheers and support, specially my wife.

  • Comments: I knew what to expect with this race since I did it last year. They call it a festival, but I think that's more to do with the 3 races they do on Saturday, rather than that there's much else going on here. Two things I didn't like were how the waves were aligned at the start. That could have easily been better. The other was the drink stations. I knew there wouldn't be one on the bike, so that's life. Could be tough if you're doing the Olympic though. The run was just silly though. One station was at the exit of T2, and the other was 0.1 miles later (which you passed again just before the finish). So the drinks were at 0, 0.1, and 3.0 miles! Not much good in that. The Olympic was at 0, 0.1, 3.0, and 6.1. Hmmm... I think it was because they were way down on volunteers this year. I remember a lot more last year. And these were manned by an adult with a few kids (8-12 years). The kids were actually great - very enthusiastic, which was fun to see. I didn't even mind when

  • Comments: This was a really great race put on by HFP. Very well organized, very professional. Music, announcer, on-time start, plenty of parking, course was well-manned and well-marked. Yummy snacks afterwards too! I really enjoyed this race and would definitely do it again.

  • Comments: Title of race was Akron Sports festival but the only event going on was the race (no food or things to do for non race participants.) Post race activities were also non existent. Overall learned alot about myself in my second race with this being my first OWS. Can't wait to TRI again!

  • Comments: I thought the race was well prepared and organized. My only complaint was that the HFP racing website titled this event as a "festival". I brought my family and friends thinking there would be something for them to do besides watch me race. There was no food, games, or any activities at all for the spectators. I left within an hour of finishing the race because of the lack of festivities.

  • Comments: Police were excellent keeping cars back. Lots of volunteers as well. Overall a good race, but agree that it probably shouldn't be called a festival since there was nothing else there.

  • Comments: Race events were delayed due to weather. Well organized, they went off as soon as the fog started to lift. Swim course was changed as buoys far from shore were obscured by fog.

  • Comments: I love racing with HFP. They are very organized and supportive of all racers. This was a somber event. One of the HFP Team members had died earlier in the week do to a genetic blood disease. HFP set up a memorial for him. All the HFP Team members, as they crossed the finish line, pointed up toward the sky as to say "this race is for you".
