  • Comments: My goal was to make top 10 AG at this year's race which I did. Didn't expect to get the same time and move up in place due to less AG competitors, but 8th is 8th. Less volunteers than prior years - probably due to the rain.

  • Comments: This is an annual event for my brother and me. I especially liked that the Sprint was done on Saturday, which made the course less crowded on Sunday. The swim start was a bit late, but I really appreciate the free parking for the race, which cut down the lines for parking. Overall it was well done this year and I'll be back.

  • Comments: I had a blast as always, this is my second time doing this event, and I'll probably be back again in the future. The course is great and the race organization is pretty good too!

  • Comments: Great race. I set a 19 minute PR off my 22 minute PR from last year. Very well organized. The volunteers were great. Everything started on time. Very little in the way of post race food which is my only real complaint. I will definitely do this again

  • Comments: Poorly organized overall. In the future they should hand out the timing chips with the packets the day before to minimize long lines the morning of. The volunteers were great, but there were too few. Swim course was poorly explained and poorly marked. Crowds were good at places where there was room for crowds, but most of the course is not conducive to crowds.

  • Comments: I had a great race but overall this was a very poorly organized race. The lines were so long for packet and chip pickup and also for transition. People were still waiting in the transition line with 15 minutes to the start. The swim was not well explained or well marked. The top 5 men leaders actually got to the exit and they made them turn around and go back around a bouy they all missed. The bike course sucks. The run was a good course on a trail but it was open and I was dodging mountain bikers, kids and dogs. Also there was no timing mat at the turnaround so people could have very easily cheated.

  • Comments: There were enough volunteers at the aid stations on the run, at least when I was out there, but a couple more pointing the way on the bike course for the turns in town would be nice. I headed to the water start as soon as the pre-race meeting was finished, and I made it with thirty seconds to spare. That's ridiculous. The line to get into transition in the morning was also ridiculous. With a thousand racers, there ought to be more than one entrance. Two more volunteers could have had another gate open. I skipped the postrace activities in order to walk back to the hotel and shower before checkout. This was my first olympic distance race. As such, I set a PR, even if it is one that will likely be bested in the next race. I also met both of my goals: don't be DFL and don't be last in my age group. Apart from my mis-navigating the swim and adding 150 yards or so and forgetting my watch to time nutrition/hydration and my run/walk ratio, it was a pretty good day.

  • Comments: Great race. It was my first Olympic Distance Tri. Would do again if I lived in Pittsburgh anymore. Highly recommend. Swim was tough coming up current, bike was nice and straight (except for hairpin at turnaround point), run was perfect and shaded with very minor hills (no real elevation change).

  • Comments: Overall good - well organized, ok number of volunteers, course well layed out. I would definitely like a swim warm-up, though - personally, I think it helps me quite a bit. The bike course is a little boring and a little crowded - a not very scenic ride on a narrow concrete highway. The run course was also slightly ambiguous - I get the feeling that we were supposed to be running on the left, but we were all running on the right. At one point, the out and back legs crossed each other - not a huge issue, just minor details. The pre-race meeting and post-race ceremony were held right next to the big inflatable tents - meaning all you could hear unless you were squeezed up front was the air compressors/fans keeping the tents inflated. Besides the finish line, it was also very hard to find water post-race. The expo was nice, the main area around the race/transition site is beautiful and probably good for spectators, the trophies and medals for award winners looked good. I think a race

  • Comments: I wish they would make this race better, because it has a ton of potential. They need more volunteers and lifeguards. I think the food could be better and, for the sign up price, I think the tee shirts should be nicer. Also, they should get some more coverage on tv and the newspapers. I would love to be part of making this a better event. The organizers were REALLY nice though; there is just room for improvement.

  • Comments: Before my friend finished, I went up for some food. THERE WAS NONE! By far the absolute worst post race layout of all time. There were some cartons of gross orange drink, and some boxes behind the tent with bags of some kind of baked cheddar and sour cream chips, which I threw right back in. Nobody there to help at all. There was a line of well over 30 people for a Chipotle's burrito that you could order. I wasn't interested in waiting for that, especially with the rain starting to come down. Totally disgusted about that. Maybe there was more food there earlier, and the Sprint finishers had it all, but not having enough for all racers (if there was any) was terrible.

  • Comments: Started swim heats a bit late for some of them. Volunteers were great on the course, but I didn't feel like the city of Pittsburgh even knew about this race. Considering we put on a marathon with 10,000+, 700-800 people for a triathlon is a bit embarassing. This race could be promoted better and marketed better.

  • Comments: It's a small race with little sponsorship and the bike course was less than desirable. Oh and no medics to look at road rash which quite a few people had due to the wet bike course. They were only helping if you were broken.

  • Comments: Lots of volunteers - last year at the bike turn around there was me and one other woman. Couldn't believe it this year when there were 6 there! HOV lane is what it is. I think the flats were from people riding too far right, the middle seemed fine. Definitely needed a dismount sign though. Great views of the city and stadiums, and lots of fun.

  • Comments: I had an absolute blast. Nothing beats coming down 279 on the bike, rounding that last bend at 30mph and having the Pittsburgh skyline right in front of you. Very well organized event and I can't say I was complaining about the good lookin' ladies from Suzuki running around 8)

  • Comments: Pretty good race, minus the hills I wasn't ready for and the crappy roads in the HOV lane. I did this race for fun and because I was in the area, if those 2 things happen again then I'll do the race. But I wouldn't travel from VA Beach to do it.

  • Comments: I really hate that bike course. I think there are much better courses that could be run for this race but I digress. For 90 bucks, the swag could have been better. Nice shirts though. Nice volunteers at the aid stations, and I appreciated the bike aid at the bike turn around and the water bottles as well. I do like racing in my city!
