Thanks for the tip about the rental.  I think I'll be buying one from Go For It Sports.  They got a huge sale going on and I think I can find something that will work.  Especially after checking out some of the rental prices just to train in them here at home... Yikes... I have Friday off from work but no such luck for training.  Got 1:30 swim then 5 hr bike on Saturday and 2:30 run on Sunday..  Expected temps to be 85-90 for Saturday's ride and about 75-80 for Sunday's run..  Endurolytes here I come!! Had a good run last night with 11 miles in 2 hrs with a sucky head wind along PCH for the return portion.. That will be about my training pace as I typically stay about 1 minute below race pace in training..  All about the base endurance and volume..   Will be interesting to see how my butt handles my first long ride..

Lori... "You want me to put that where?!?!??!?!"...

Oooooh  What do you get to ride?  Nothing like new toys, even if you do have to give them back.

BTW, that was an awesome ride the other day.  Brag away, you earned it.

I used to live on Camp Pendleton at San Onofre.

I needled our Felt rep for a Shimano Di2-equipped bike, but that's not necessarily up to them.  I'll be on (some) 2010 Felt road bike - I wanted to ride one of their road bikes since I hadn't except for quick test rides after service.  I saw the line-up and it really looks good.  Giant does, too.

I'll have to push my long ride until after we get back, but the quick trip up into the desert will be a good reminder of what it's like to run in the heat.  I should be able to get a few good runs in next week, plus the ride on Tuesday, but that will probably be at a social/business pace than training.

Jezzie...I'll be in the back.

My last HIM swim was 47 minutes and change, which is especially frustrating since my 1.2 mile swim PR is 38 minutes.

I'm giving myself 1:45 for the IM swim assuming I don't get the crap kicked out of me too much.

In the pool I can consistently swim sub-1:50/100y but toss me in open water and the game changes.

sigh.

Does anyone know the best way to sign up for the AZ Ironman in 2010? It sells out fairly quickly online so I was thinking of either volunteering or going out and watching it... I think you can sign up on the spot. Any details would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I'm from San Francisco so I am looking for the easiest surefire way to sign up!

You are pretty much guaranteed to get in if you volunteer. They have priority sign up for volunteers the day after the race. Thats what i did last year but it also stayed open online for a bit- maybe someone knows for sure? My guess would be that it takes a few days to sell out (economy) but I dont want to be responsible for you not getting a spot.

Did my longest ride ever today 106 miles! Had to get it in on a friday because hubby is working all weekend (I have kids).

Hope everyone has great long rides and runs this weekend. I rode in enough wind for all of us, so hopefully your rides will be calm and fast!

Well done riorio!   I am still in a build phase after my accident.  Losing 5 weeks of training sucks! I did a 50 this week and the neck and back hurt, but did not limit me as far as pace.  Still can't swim but running is starting to come together.  I am so far behind where I need to be it isn't funny. But, I am still hopeful.

My expected swim pace  is 2:00 per 100.  I have no idea how much the wetsuit will help me so I can only guess based on pool workout times.  Have a great weekend.

I'd like to amend my previous swim guesstimate.

Today's 2-mile OWS was beyond horrible. Ended up right under 2 hours (wtf). This is beyond unacceptable. I have no idea what is going on with my head and body right now...but it better get ironed out soon.

Need some guidance...I did a 75 mile ride yesterday in under 4:00 but if you asked me to go another 40 miles+ there would have been no way. I have tried perpetum and it made me sick. I've been alternating water/gatorade and throwing in some hammer gels and cliff bars along the way, but I know that it is not going to get it done for IMAZ. Some suggestions for bike nutrition would be helpful...thanks

I tried Carbo pro powder with thermolytes mixed into gatorade, it worked fairly well and didn't taste nasty. I usually train with Infinit but gave something new a try on a long ride to see if I had any other nutrition options. The carbo pro has no flavor and can be mixed with juice, water or sprots drink.

hope y'all don't mind me crashing your thread now and then,,,,,  I am just jealous

Found this pic of the Nov. 2008 swim start, might give an idea re: placement and seeding.  Keep in mind the nearest shore also moves up toward the center of the lake as the swm goes along, so not only is it crowded on the wall, it gets more so as you go along...

Post up everybody.  How did your weekends go?

I did a trail marathon which was a ton of fun but unfortunately that was the one and only workout for the entire weekend.  Now I'll be trying to play catch up with the swim and bike.

Good weekend of training! My long runs are done mid-week but I had a light day Saturday and then a long brick Sunday - ended up being 97 miles on the bike with a 3.5 mile run after. I'm looking forward to a rest week this week before the big 3 week build that follows!

This weekend was great (hot and toasty here), I went to IM camp and did a lot of race specific training. Ride and long swim Friday, 88 mile ride with lots of climbing followed by a T run and OWS Saturday and a 2 hour run on Sunday. I had a blast and am charged for the next few big weeks left. T-9 weeks to go.

I tried some new nutrition options this weekend, some worked, some didn't. I think I'm sticking with Infinit for the race but plan to switch up my solid food and special needs plans.

Just building back up after IMKY....3 hour ride on Sat and about 90 min yesterday.

The pic above....I think I just threw up in my mouth a bit.  Can I bring my fins to IMAZ?  LOL (yes, someone got caught doing that at IMFL!)
