Mock run through of my only race of the year. So, a little swim, bike and run this morning. Followed by a nice cup of coffee and a shower. Not sure on the rest of the day, but whatever it is, we'll enjoy it.

I hope everyone enjoys the day!

Going to try and get a run in if possible.  With it being a holiday the kids are going nuts and having a blast with the excitement of fireworks, etc.

Happy 4th to everyone!!!

5 mile hilly run on a hot and humid morning. At one point, when the sun was streaming through the pine grove, I could see all the steam in the air. Uuuuugh. If it's pretty much 99% humidity why doesn't it just rain then? I love running in the rain...

Happy 4th everyone!

Mock Tri this morning with a new group.  Things went well.  Swim was a little short but for a 400 yd. swim, 14 mile bike, and 3 mile run, my time was 1:20:xx.  I have a race on the 14th of about the same distances and hope to be in the 1:15-1:17 range, so things look good.  I did ride with a large American Flag on my rear bottle rack, so that probably slowed me down a little, but it's the 4th of July!

Sort of a reverse tri this AM. 4th of July 5K race (20:20--Grrr....I still can't break 20, despite running 20:53 in a tri 5K and 20:46 in a sprint swim-run race. Not for want of trying. Think I just died on the last 400m, which was uphill.  Anyway, first masters and won a free pie.) Plus 3 mile warmup and 2-mile cooldown. Then sprinted home on bike to change; 2200m master's swim--the yearly "IM-Free" workout. Fun. Rest of day will be a bit more relaxing!

Very confusing bike ride. Had the idea to bike out and say hi to my dad, 27 miles from my house. An hour into the ride he calls and tells me he, his girlfriend, and her granddaughter went over to see a parade. So I reroute myself and head there. 5 minutes before I get there he calls to tell me its too hot so they're leaving. I'm like WTF? I wind up meeting them on the side of the road walking back to the car. They invite me back to their house but I was NOT biking another 8.8 miles on what turned into a 96 degree day. So we talked for a few, I grabbed a water bottle, and left.

Found a nice little park near there, refilled my bottles at the water fountain, and sat in the gazebo and at my PB&J. Very peaceful. Then biked home. 60 miles round trip in the hottest part of the day. I have tan lines from my gloves!

Happy 4th everyone. Be safe, and enjoy your families -even if they are nuts.
