Champion 7821 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) This thread is for viewers of the GOT series who haven't read the books, so, while spoilers related to the show are perfectly ok, please no, "yeah but in the next book, they all die" spoilers. The book series has its own thread.) "Arya and the Hound on the Road" is either the worst buddy movie of all time, or the best. I can't decide. I've been rooting for Arya to start crossing some people off that list of hers for a long time, but I have to admit I was a little conflicted now that she's gotten her first kill. No going back from here, I guess. I was a little surprised that Stannis didn't make an appearace. He's the rightful ruler of Westeros, so it's weird to me that he didn't appear in the premiere. I guess it's to emphasise that the war is truly over and the Lannisters are the only ones sitting pretty. I love any scene with Tywin Lannister in it. Watching him is a hilarious reminder that no matter how rich and powerful you are, your kids will always drive you nuts. I'm kind of looking for Tyrion to get his fastball back a little, and I hope we're seeing sparks of it. It's entertaining to watch such a talented actor handle the emotional range that the character has had to manage over the past couple of seasons, but I kind of miss the funny, arrogant Tyrion that made the character so popular. It's gettting to be kind of a bummer watching him sulk around. How big do dragons need to get before you can reliably use them in battle? Here's a good article about the first episode from Grantland.com: http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/game-of-thrones-premiere-... |

Extreme Veteran 550 Vine Grove, KY | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) Really liked Tyrion's uncomfortable scene on the steps with The Viper. To me, this season should be the best one. Plenty of plot lines to move forward at a pretty good pace. |

I thought the first episode, season 4 was decent. Favorite is Arrya. I thought Oberyn would be a bigger guy, but seems to have the skills like in the book. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/04/08/game-thrones-porn-s... |

I intially thought the same but having some time to ponder it I kind of feel the Lannisters will figure out it was the cake. If it was the cake, my guess. My dark horse is Cersei did it but my front runner is Sansa. The way she tried to get Tyrion to leave early and then she was wisked away. Although it just seems to obvious. Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) Maybe he was not poisoned but choked on dry cake? I sure the whole thing was not poisoned because you run the risk of killing everyone there. Then again if you do not care about anyone there maybe you can just not eat it and kill everyone. It is part of the game right? |

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) That was pretty shocking. I honestly didn't think he would go that... easily? I figured he would go out whimpering or humiliated or some kind of payback for all the torture he inflicted on people... Nope, just gone. The wife and I have been going over all the suspects. Honestly? It's EVERYONE save maybe Cersie... The new guy this season who sort of vowed to get revenge on the Lannisters? I don't think it was Sansa or Tyrion... They didn't like him, but they also trended to put up with him. It's also who had access to the cup. The new queen had access and motive. But that seems awfully quick on the draw. Tywin for some reason? KNEW that he wasn't the true heir and also an embarrassment to the Lannister family? The knight that Sansa saved Joffry's name sake day? He was VERY quick to get her out of there - as if he know what was going down. I sort of want start reading the books again to find out who! I'm only through the second. BTW, didn't Joffry have a little brother? Wouldn't that be the next king? In the clip, I though the new queen said something like "this was all SOPPOSED to be mine". Maybe she's out now?

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) Kido you might be right about the knight. Then again he might be trying to protect Sansa. She would be a perfect scapegoat. The marriage is no longer needed to align the houses and she would have perfect motive for killing him. The knight also had a good motive and probably looks at himself as already being dead. He just can make a final grand gesture helping the person who helped him so long ago. |

Regular 866 Central Coast, CA | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) Just to add to the "who dunnit" speculation, the new queen did not eat any of the pie and it seemed almost purposeful the way she fed it to him but didn't take any bites herself. Or maybe it was a plot by grandpa Lannister and the queen's grandmother... they did have that private conversation and food was part of the subject: give a way to off the reckless and embarrassing boy king. |

I agree. Margery could have done it, I think Sansa is a good candidate too. I do not think Tyrion did it. Despite his sparring with Joffery he was still all about family. I read an interesting article in which they interviewed the actor who played Joffery. Apparently he read the books after he got the part and has known all along he would die. He is also giving up acting. |

If the queen is to marry Joeffery's younger brother next since he would be the heir then it could work. Then why wait to the wedding day? Maybe to blame it on the foreign guy somehow? To ensure the queen will be queen? I am assuming the younger brother is also cersi and jaime child so grandpa would still have his heir on the throne. The new queen could been in on it too. She was not too pleased to marry Joerry anyways. She wanted the power and not the man. |

For all of these "who done it" or murder mystery stories, I weed out the obvious, and start looking at out of the blue people. I wouldn't be shocked if Cersie or Jamie did it. If you don't suspect or even think of them? They probably did it and you would be right 90% of the time. UNLESS, they do the whole "innocent gets wrongly accused and imprisoned, spend a season to convince everyone that he is innocent (including the audience) just to do a flashback after he is vindicated reveal that he DID do it"... ala Primal Fear... the old double switcheroo... Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) It's also a statement to do it at the wedding, in front of everyone. Maybe the author took that into consideration, maybe not. But who would want a public scandal and the Lannisters torn apart? (again, maybe everyone)... I would think Margery could have planned something more discrete? |

1300 | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) I still like my chance with my dark horse for who did it, Cersei! There does seem to be mixed feelings on how he was poisined with some here saying wine - some cake? I think it was the cake, he seemed to have a reaction shortly after taking a bite. |

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) cake was dry. Maybe it was a combo? so you could poison the wine without killing everyone. Cersei and Jamie I think is the only people who would not have done it. Even though it would be a good twist I doubt we will see it. I think it would be over reaching.. Edited by chirunner134 2014-04-17 7:58 AM |

Extreme Veteran 961 | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones Season Four (TV Show Only-- no book spoilers, please!) Subject to the decisions makers behind the show pulling a fast one, what happened at the purple wedding is following fairly closely to how it happened in the books. I think this was the GRRM written episode for this season, if that matters about whether there is likely to be an major departures from what he wrote in the books. Don't worry, not going to post any spoilers, but a good portion of the "whodunit" was subtly shown in 4.1 and 4.2 if you watched (or rewatched) close enough. |
