Overall Rank = 408/508
Age Group = 40 - 44
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

up at 4 with a migraine but out the door at 4:30 to make sure we get a parking spot. No problem. Eat breakfast in the parking lot and take more Imitrex. Kill lots of time and chat with friends. Meet Debnewbie and her husband, and find Glen. Nice morning!
Event warmup:

nothing. Headache is kicking my ass and I do nothing. I'm just hoping it doesn't make me puke.
Swim
  • 13m 27s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

roughest swim I've had yet. The waves were pretty big on the way out. Swallowed enough to have my own ocean in my stomach. Slugged in out with Glen for a while LOL Sorry bout that! We just could not get away from each other. Lots of jellyfish in the water today.
What would you do differently?:

get enough sleep.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

T1 time is included w/ bike time, so I have no idea what it really is. As usual I screwed up the splits on my watch. Sand in zipper and it took a while to get undone.
Bike
  • 35m 22s
  • 9 miles
  • 15.27 mile/hr
Comments:

went out easy. Did not feel like riding hard. Felt better about halfway thru and picked it up a bit.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

time in w/run.
Run
  • 34m 41s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 10m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

gave back all the advantage I had won from the swim and bike. Knee was killing me and my run just plain sucks.
Post race
Warm down:

cleared out transition area pretty fast and put stuff back in the car. Headed back to the beach to cheer on the remaining finishers and wait for award ceremony.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my fat a** and busted up body.

Event comments:

1st place Athena, 40 - 44.
21/37 in AG

1st place!  Awesome job!  Sounds like a tough swim!

And you might want to fix your run time - I'm sure it did not take 17 hours per mile!

LOL thanx, didn't even notice

But it really did FEEL like 17 hours per mile.......

you know, I think the bike split may have both transition times included in it, who knows.  One of these days I'll remember to do the splits correctly on my watch.

you mean you didn't mind exchanging blows with me in the water?  That was too damn funny!  Champion my butt, you had a great race!  The results are on www.coolrunning.com if you haven't seen them yet.  You are so damn fast on the run!  I need to work on that.

Let me know if you want to ride some time.  Or maybe we should swim together and figure out how to draft

Or at least maybe we should invest in some boxing gloves!!!

Yeah, I will be away from 7/29 to Aug 6. (no tri taining at all, canoeing in n. maine w/scouts) I will keep in touch about your son's volunteer efforts.
Definitely do a ride when I get back, have to get my training partner in too. I did one wed, pm bike zone ride, seemed good. I saw aother person I knew at the tri so maybe a group would be cool. I will have to hit it hard when I get back for cranberry country on 8/29.

Very impressive. Your swim time is so fast! I swim about half that speed... Your bike and run times look about the same as mine will be. So my fat a$$ will be following yours!

Hope to meet you at the Danskin Tri. I will be wearing my orange Team Crum bike shirt. Crum Cycles is our local bike shop and sponsors our bike team.
