Attended my first NFL game in probably 15 years as I traveled down to Cincinnati to watch the Bengals take on the Broncos and Payton Manning. I am not a Bengal or a Bronco fan so no skin in the game. I have to say the college atmosphere is SO MUCH BETTER than the NFL. It is so much more spirited at a college game while an NFL game just seems corporate and stuffy.

Give me scripted OHIO, LSU on a Saturday night, between the hedges, etc any day.

P.S. in defense of the NFL, a Bengal game in Cincinnati is probably not a fair sample to judge.

College football is much better than the NFL and college basketball is better than the MBA also.

I'm totally with you.  I don't even watch the NFL anymore.

I prefer the NFL. There is an actual playoff. That didn't used to bother me as much, but after the last few years, it has ruined it a bit for me.

My dad always had the TV on with the volume all the way down and the radio up blasting the game. Pro games always.

Granddad watched Alabama and cheered for whoever was playing Auburn.

For some reason I picked up on my granddad's followings and really couldn't care less about pro football but try to catch Alabama games whenever possible.

I think college is more exciting (and prefer to watch it) but am disappointed that one loss means you are out of contention.  A Pro teams can have 1-2 losses and still easily win the big game.

College football rules in the regular season, but until there is a real playoff system the post season bowls are meaningless.  The "and one" game won't help.

The playoffs is where the NFL Shines.  All a team has to do is have a good enough regular season record to make the playoffs to have a shot.

As for watch ability the only way that I can watch a game (College or NFL) on TV anymore is to DVR it and watch the game an hour after it starts.  There are way too many commercials anymore.

A college team would not beat a pro team.  No chance.  Not even 1 out of 100 times.

Yes but we are not watching college play pro teams. We are watching college again college and the quality of the game and spirit of the crowd and comparing that to pro against pro. Given all of that, I do not watch much of any sport except soccer when I get a chance. Even I would watch a UW game instead of a seahawks game if given the choice.

Y'know, I do believe I would pay to see the BCS champion play the lowest rated NFL team each year. I wonder.

Really? Less than half of a stacked team like Alabama will ever play in the NFL and they could take a roster full of NFL players?

Josh and JP, completely agree with you. Did you hear the actual Vegas line on Alabama playing Jacksonville ? starts @ 24 points. the Ravens ? 36.

http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2012/11/6/3607580/alabama-versus-t...

Spurrier mentioned in the last week that 'Bama could beat a couple of NFL teams. Not sure if this was an aw-shucks comment or he really believes it.

I have loved Alabama football since the late 70's.... but ain't no way. End of story.

Back to the OP topic. Have attended hundreds of college games and many pro games..... that's not even close either, imho. College is 100X more exciting. Just a much better experience and a better game.

Pardon. Would you mind showing me where I said any of that? Hell where I said I had any inkling of the outcome at all?

I do believe I only said I would pay to see the game.

Interesting thread. I agree that there is nothing like a college football gameday. I'm a big fan and have been to many UW and WSU games and absolutely love that environment.

With that said, as others have mentioned, the NFL postseason makes the regular season so much more meaningful and therefore to me more entertaining. To me, there is much more parity in the NFL.

Even with a playoff in college, the big SEC teams will win most of the national championships. They just have such a huge recruiting advantage over the rest of the country. The SEC has won the last six.

This year is at least a little more interesting in that we might have team outside the SEC that wins it. But still, I'd be shocked if it's not Oregon or Alabama.
