I worked on the International Space Station program desining/building/testing for 12 years and have always been facinated with space. I hope you find this video as cool as I did.

That was so cool!  Had to call a co-worker over to watch it.

That's awesome, I was guessing there would be droplets going everywhere.  lol

That must make for an interesting shower experience, but I suspect they have to use wet wipes or something like that for their showers.

That's fascinating.  Everything is.  See his watch just bouncing around?

I assume it was perfectly safe and maybe he was enclosed, but a bunch of droplets of water floating around all those electronics?

I don't know if I could ever get any work done up there if I went!.  Too busy playing around with things like that in zero gravity...

Pretty cool! I figured the surface tension would keep the water from going all over in droplets, but I didn't think it would become like a gelatin coating.

Love that video and what makes it even cooler is that two local high school students submitted the experiment to the CSA in a national competition. So my classes watched in real time as Commander Hadfield conducted the experiment that was designed by other high school students that many of them knew.

Also, if you haven't already seen it, watching his version of Space Oddity is pretty cool too.

Agree, this is awesome:

BTW, I was the first person ever to sleep in the USL Module....or so the legend goes. I was not actually asleep, just zoned out and off the net and out of radio contact with the test engineers outside the module.

Riiight..."space stations," "Moon landings," you people will believe anything.

Seriously, very cool stuff. I figured there'd be some surface tension, but not that much!

I know, right.  I could see the string holding the towel up in the air

What I kept looking at was the microphone.  You don't have to hold it OR put it down.  It just stays where you left it in space.  Effin' cool - the whole thing!

Definitely showing the kiddies this one tonight.

Thanks!

Matt
