Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm not sure what my husband was doing but he seems to have missed out on quite a few movies. The straw came when he was not familiar with "DA BEARS" skits...I mean that was SNL during his 30's!! He said he was going to be early so that he could get up and ride on Sunday....I say "sigh".... What are "classics"? The movies a person couldn't miss? On the other hand - What "classic"/memorable movies have you missed? I didn't watch any of the Lord of the Ring - it reminded me of my brother reading them when we were kids...I'm not against seeing it, but it's a series that a lot of people have seen...I haven't. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just reread your post. Since you referenced since 1990, I'll stick with that list (my other list was huge and had all movies ever made): Austin Powers Crying Game Dances with Wolves Die Hard Dumb & Dumber Edward Scissorhands Fargo Forrest Gump Ghost Happy Gilmore League of Their Own Lion King Matrix Men in Black Mission: Impossible Mrs. Doubtfire My Cousin Vinny Pretty Woman Pulp Fiction Saving Private Ryan Scent of a Woman Schindler's List Scream Shawshank Redemption Silence of the Lambs Sling Blade Toy Story Tremors Usual Suspects Wayne's World Big Lebowski - Never really got it but lots of movie buffs like this one Blair Witch Project - never saw it; dont want to Fight Club - have never seen it Edited by jonathan22 2011-01-20 3:49 AM |

I would highly suggest giving LOTR a shot. At least the special additions with all the extra footage. As someone who read the entire series multiple times between 6th grade and now, I can say they did a good job of bringing the story arc into focus and completion. They had to leave some things out but the important things were done. Even if you have not read the books I would recommend them as great movies of themselves as well. I would add to that list, Titanic. (though I have never seen this movie myself, it never really appealed to me when it came out and I do not care that much to go back and watch a boat sink ![]() |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Not that your marvelous new husband needs any support from me, but I never watched much SNL. While a few skits were really good, most of the show didn't do much for me and I couldn't stay up for the *chance* to catch a gem. Not a 90's show, but I successfully avoided seeing ET (the movie) until either last year or the year before. |

Right along with "Snatch" and "Lock stock and two smoking barrels" If you added Fight Club to this list - I would forever be your biggest fan. (And for those in the Princess Bride camp - "never fight a land war in Asia") |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() As someone whose teen years were culminating in the late 90's/early '00 - i tend to go to the teen movies to think of the ones that are 'classic' at least to those in my demographic - American Pie being the main one - there were many more Ones that came slightly before me but my slightly older peers insist are awesome and i've seen multiple times - Singles - Reality Bites Those are the ones that pop into my head at the end of a workday - there are more but some really only mean something to me and my friends. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I loved Scent of a Woman at the time - but I tried to watch it again not long ago and it just didn't stand the test of time... Princess Bride is essential. "I'm not a witch, I'm your wife! And after what you just said, I'm not even sure I want to be that any more!" LOVED Snatch. What about The Usual Suspects and Braveheart? I'm not a horror fan - but Silence of the Lambs was phenomenal. Oh - and Clerks. |

Tommy Boy would be another one possibly to add to the list if you were into the SNL crew, Chris Farley at his best |
