Lots of divorce talk around here.  I suppose it's good that I'm not phased by it one bit.

99 days to my wedding!  Lots of details still to be finalized though!

Ha!  Clint (jcbolton) and I are getting married in 99 days too!!  I hate hearing all the divorce talk, but I have no doubt that we'll beat the odds!  Good luck with the wedding stuff.  My to-do list is getting much shorter and we put a contract on a house today!  Very exciting times!

maybe I'm looking too much into this, but you state:

looking forward to getting married

is that the same as looking forward to being married?

Just think of it as Taper Madness. (You know, like when you have pre-race anxiety about forgetting to take your wetsuit off before heading out on the bike, or running out ot T2 in your cycling shoes)

Seriously, you don't have to be a statistic if you don't want to. It is possible to be happily married; to find enjoyment in the process of being married for the rest of your life.

Like MaggyRuth Says, there is hope

Word to what WD said.  This year we'll be celebrating 16 years.  It's not always easy.  It's not always fun. But it is rewarding, and it is what you make of it.   Hmm, kinda like triathlon

This from a woman who could have any man she desires. Trust me. Men's Health recently reported that 78% of all men felt they could genuinely love more than one woman at the same time. The other 22% were married or had at some point been married.

divorce doesn't scare me... losing your spouse to death does.  sorry.... all i see is death lately, all i can think about is this life is nothing but a lottery, and how it is that i'm still here.  that's the million dollar question.  what makes it so that we are still here, and they aren't

i guess it's pretty ironic that i posted that.  today is 30 years my dad died.  my parents were married just over 13 years when he died.  5 kids, and he died 10 hours after signing a brand new life insurance policy.  so maybe i have reason for fearing death more than divorce

Hey I'm getting married also... I just had her set the date.. feburary 30th when ever that happens I'm getting marrried.

its an inside joke.. Since I was spotted in a jewerly store by a co worker and when I was admiring another co-workers engargement ring, and had a few days off around that time, the news spread that I was getting married.. when I told them the day, they transposed it to march 1st and the rumor is still going on.

Dude. I thought I was ready to marry just one man but it turned out he was "terrified of commitment" and "would never marry again." That's what I get for going Army instead of Marine!

The day I got married was the single best day of my life. (5 years on March 8) Since I've been married I have had more of the best days, and more of the worst days I could have imagined, but still, I would have it no other way. Enjoy the whole shebang, even the annoying in-laws, the ridiculousness of some wedding planning nonsense, etc, and whatever you do, DO NOT GET DRUNK at your own wedding. Save that for the honeymoon!  Oh, and have lots of sex.

Congrats to everyone else getting married!  gvfrog, you picked a great date!

Condorman, you are reading too much into it.  Lori and I would both be fine with a small private ceremony and no pomp and circumstance.  It really is about being together as a team for both of us.

pigfinn, in March it will be 8 years since my dad died.  He was 57, and I am so sad he won't be at my wedding and even more sad that he and Lori never got to meet.  I think they would have really enjoyed each other.  He and my mom were a rock solid marriage, 31 years when he died, death really was the only thing that could separate them.  Lori's parents have been married 41 years now, so we both have really good models to follow!  I fear death too.  I think I fear dying first more than losing her, but either way, life together is better so here we go!

Renee, I used to be terrified of commitment.   That's totally gone.  For me, at least, I think it has to do with finding the right person.

Thanks for the kind words gang!

CONGRATULATIONS!  May you and your intended live a long and happy life together.

Living together is a "give and take" proposition and that problems are inevitable.  Remember this always, no matter what problems may arise and no matter who is at "fault", brush you emnity aside and resolve your issues before going to bed.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!  I'll be happily married 11-years this June.  Sure, we have had some difficult times but we understand and respect each other.  Then having kids brings in a whole new dimension...but our marriage is stronger than ever. I love being married.

Oh, someone commented "not to get drunk at your own wedding".   Well, I was totally smashed for my wedding and probably missed out, or don't remember all of the days events.  But I have no regrets.  The big wedding was for her and I figured if I was paying for it I was going to enjoy myself!  After all, it's a celebration.  Enjoy the day!
