Hopefully the late spring/early summer weather around here cooperates and we can get some decent outdoor riding done in late May/June. |

Member 326 | Subject: RE: Ironman Canada : Official Thread I did IM Canada this year. It is a beautiful course. It is challenging, but not overly so. The last 20 miles coming up from Pemberton to Whistler on the bike is just killer though. The run has a surprising amount of elevation change as well. Whistler Village is great. There are tons of shops and I highly recommend taking a ride up the gondola and do peak to peak and do the buffet. |

I missed a bottle handoff at the last aid station and decided to skip it. Big mistake. That 20 mile climb is going to take you more than an hour, and it's hot and completely out in the open. |

They spaced the aid stations differently in '14 than '13 in the Whistler-Pemberton-Whistler sections and I too skipped an aid station because I thought another one would be where it was in '13 but it wasn't. I went like 30 miles without getting any Perform or water. It also was much hotter in Pemberton than what was forecasted. I think the forecast was in the 70's but temps actually got up to 90 degrees, with zero cloud coverage. The combination of those two things killed me. I ended up with a horrible leg cramp at about mile 85-ish of the bike which I was never able to shake and resulted in my one and only DNF in my triathlon career as I waved the white flag at mile 6 of the run. |

There was either one less aid station in the Pemberton area or they were spaced out differently than 2013. There was a stretch of about 20 miles without an aid station. I skipped the one right before that thinking there would be another one in 10 miles or so but I was wrong. |

The warm temps, seemingly never ending climb, and headwind were very tough mentally. Beautiful course, though. Good luck to all of you participating in 2015! My last race was Leadman, Bend in late Sept and getting on a bike after that did not seem appealing at all. But now, I think I'm ready to get back on it, not quite looking forward to several months of cold-garage trainer sessions but at least I can catch up on TV. |

The timing makes sense to us and we both plan to bring our families. This will be our 3rd IM for each of us. I am just starting to look at logistics. I was wondering if anyone knew what hotel is the official host hotel for IMC. There are a cluster of hotels on the main IM site but none are specified. Thanks ! |

Its true ski resort so pick something in the village right on the course and your family can watch from the balcony!. My gang is at the Holiday Inn. How's everyone's training going??
