What's the big deal? Even I could bike 112 miles in 8 hours 35 minutes...

Oh wait, you mean she did the entire race in that length. Wow

Without even clicking on the thread, I said, "Let me guess ........ Roth Challenge probably ......"

Kick azz for her, but I put a big old asterisk by every Roth result.

It's still nearly 15min off the previous record, from the same course. So it's pretty impressive.

She is the best currently in the world.  And given time as long as she stays healthy and motivated she may even climb up to the best female long distance triathlete of all time!  I'm certainly not going to deny her abilities!

But Roth is well documented as being short on both the bike and run and it is where everyone goes to set their records an PR's.  The fact that she beat the old record from the same course by 15 minutes is very impressive.  But I would not personally call it the "world record."  Triathlon is ripe with improperly measured courses as opposed to certified running courses.

As I mentioned before, still kick azz for her.  But the time is bogus compared to the ACTUAL distance to me.  She is still far and away the fastest current female long distance triathlete in the world, no doubt.

I knew people were gonna give me a bunch of sh-t for calling out the race for what it is ............ not the true IM distance.  Not discrediting HER effort, but as soon as someone says World Record for IM distance, Roth is ALWAYS the race.  The race is a sham, not her effort and abilities.

So that means every IM race that is not 'certified' is a sham.  As far as I know Kona isn't a 'certified' course, so is that a sham too?

No doubt that Roth is a fast course, but as since the Men's and Women's fastest IM times are achieved there makes it a level playing field, so to speak. So her accomplishment is perfectly valid as a world record. In a sport where all the courses vary, you will always have one that is the fastest and one that is the slowest. The term "World Record" is legit and Roth will be the palce it is set year in and year out. The only other time goal of not would be the fastest time at Kona.

And Rick, you're not calling out the race for what it is, you are calling out the race for what YOU think it is. It's an opinion, not a statement of fact.

I am so impressed by Chrissie and her results. Anytime she toes the line it is a lock she will win but also I bet some of the 2nd tier pros get very nervous

World Record or not, whatev, as an athlete she is a machine and until some of the ITU gals jump into the IM I don't see any lady able to compete with her. Amazing!

Not suprised Wellington did so well. Am suprised that Rebekah Keat went 8:39:24 for second with a 2:55 marathon, 2 minutes faster than Wellingtons split.
