Not in a Million Years!

I'm on Daddy Day Care duty as the Mrs. is heading out at dawn with friends.  But wild horses couldn't drag me to a mall on Friday.

We live right near an outlet mall (Woodbury Commons), apparently starting a few years ago, the parking lot (which is HUGE) is full by midnight with people sleeping in their cars or people park cars there the day before and then get dropped off in the wee hours of the morning b/c otherwise you can't even get into the outlet mall.

Insane!

Are you going shopping on Friday?

No.  I am taking the kids to a little local zoo.

And not the zoo called "The Mall."

Most years my brother & I go out for window shopping and lunch - it's a fun tradition and usually never as bad as it's made out to be.  Of course, we're also not out there at 5AM fighting people for the latest game machine or anything like that.

Christmas has been fairly jacked up the past couple years and will be the same this year, so I'm thinking we'll probably stay home.

Of course, this is the one Christmas-related activity that is within our control that can't be screwed up by relatives, so maybe we should do it just so we have something about this holiday season that is fun.  (Yes, it really is fun for us.)

Just like the last 6 years, I will be in the WI woods.

Hunting.

And enjoying every single minute of being outdoors.

Not this year, but I did go to Staples in the Outer Banks first thing in the morning on Black Friday last year, encountering some great deals and small crowds.  I will definitely be perusing the ads in the paper on Thanksgiving just in case.

I am planning on being one of the insane people who try to conquer the system and hit 4 stores before 9 AM and finish shopping in 4 painful hours.

Am going to pick up our portion of a cow to put in our freezer and the rest in the in-laws freezer.  YEAH....MORE MEAT!!!!!

There is a running store I want to visit to get properly fitted for shoes so I can run again without pain in the arches and IF and only IF the store is not packed will I go inside.  Otherwise I'm going back to my car and going home.

Not unless there's a gun to my head. My ex used to do that -- up at 4 am to get to the stores, and spend the whole day shopping.

In my life I've done it once. And it was for two specific things that were advertised at Target. Got there 30 minutes before the store opened, and when the gates opened bee-lined it for the things I was looking for. Got them both (one of them it was the last of 2 they had) and was out of there within 15 minutes.

But after seeing the absolute mayhem and blatant disregard for decency that was displayed in that 15 minute tour (not by me, I was just trying to get out of there), I have no desire to repeat it.
