Subject: RE: Beach to Battleship HIMI've never completed a full or a half (B2B half will be my first), but I do have an opinion here for what it's worth. Effectively RACING a half requires a much more technical training methodology; doing the right speedwork at the right time, maintaining a good balance between endurance training and speedwork, implementing an effective taper, etc. It seems to me that training to simply FINISH a full could be accomplished through a less technical, strictly aerobic training program. Some minimum amount of volume is required, but I think training in this way requires much less experience and knowledge. I don't think raceday itself would be much more strenuous for me personally one way or the other. But I do think training to RACE is much more difficult than training to FINISH. |
