What are they using them for? If it's to ice down the post-race beer, sure, why not?

Although I like Bear's reason better, I think a bucket would be useful for flying mounts.

I'm making it vague so no one gets upset... which I'm sure will create more controversy

Yes Bryan this was for you

I know this is referring to the previous bucket in transition thread but due to the thread about FOPs not liking BOPs and BOPs not liking FOPs or whatever that thread was really about it had me thinking they meant FOPs had to drag buckets like during the swim to slow them down, sort of like how in racing they make cars winning a lot add weight or restrict intake size to slow them down.

This then reminded me that I thought of that becuase we had to do that in HS at swim practice, did anyone else ever have to do that? You'd literally have to swim with a bucket tied to your ankle dragging it behind you.  Doing a flip turn and pushing off was like slamming on the brakes in your car.

Gary, we needed a POLL on this dang it!

FOP's should use buckets. Yes. If some of those ladies in my AG slow down just a tad... I'll take a top 3 spot!

I don't understand why you people do that, I don't want to be where people do that, I mean I respect your efforts and you have every right to compete, I just don't understand why you would bother doing that

Close, our evil HS coach tied those stretchy bungee bands to us and to the starting blocks. Then we had to try to see if we could make it to the other side.  Hard to get across, but fun swimming back at warp speed!

Every one should use buckets, but only if the line at the porto-john is very, very  long.

We didn't have any long enough that would get you across the pool but enough to anchor you and the shooting back was always fun.

What if you had to drum out a song on our bucket in transition to cover any penalty time?

What size is the bucket because size matters.

FOPers do use buckets. At a local tri this month, the guy in the next rack over from me used a bucket and won his AG. Interestingly the guy who won my AG was racked next to me and used my bucket. He even joked about using my bucket after the race as he was picking up his wetsuit and goggles from my space. The first guy has been a FOPer for many years and has been to Kona several times - and he has always used a bucket as long as I've known him. He even has a little padded seat for his bucket!

Anyone else notice that there is a perfectly good helmet attached to the handlebars?

Are we talking about using buckets to keep your junk together in transition?  I'm a newbie.  Please open the can of worms again or point me to where I can find them.

I believe that the question goes back to an ancient discussion about bringing a five-gallon bucket with your gear in it into the T-area and leaving it there "to sit on" whilst in T1 and T2. The supposition is that 1. you should not be sitting down in TA, and 2. A bucket in a crwoded area is a hazard to other competitors. and 3. Do you really need five gallons of stuff iin the TA?

I haven't read any of the other threads, so I totally thought that you meant that the FOP race so hard that they puke, and when they do, should they be using buckets?

Clearly, I have some catching up to do.

Actually it's a triathlon joke. But that may be splitting hairs.
