Subject: Sadly....

Sadly I report my dear dad passed away early Sunday morning from complications from his kidney removal surgery. We all knew the surgery was major and would require exensive recovery, but we NEVER imagined the outcome could be fatal... We're saddened... He was a very gentle and loving man and he supported me in all my crazy triathlon endeavors, even though it was tiring for him to walk the course and catch me on the swim/bike/run. I know he loved me and my mom and sister with all his heart and he told us so regularly. He was always proud of me, and he often said that raising my sister and me was his greatest accomplishment. He will be sorely missed. He IS already sorely missed.

**SIGH**

If you pray keep us in your prayers....

If you think (and I'm assuming you all do...) keep us in your thoughts...

Toast my dear old dad with a glass of wine tonight.

xo Whizzzz...

Laura,

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your dad. Here at the site, we have had the chance to share a laugh or two, our common experiences and now we have a chance to take some time and share your family's loss. Even though we have never met in person, I guess that makes us friends.

thoughts, prayers, and tip a glass for you, your family, and your dad.

Your friend,

Don

p.s. thank you for posting the pictures

I'm very sorry to hear about your father. We'll be thinking of you also.

A few years ago my dad's heart stopped while on the table having a kidney removed. We were fortunate that they were able to do an emergency tracheotomy and get it started again, but for a time we weren't sure how it was all going to work out. We sometimes forget about all the risks to surgery.

So while I don't know what its like to lose my dad, I can at least begin to imagine what it has been like.

Remember the good memories and kept him in your heart.

Deepest regrets Laura.... and I DO KNOW what it's like to lose a parent (actually both parents)  Even now, 17 yrs later, it's still hard to digest the fact that they're gone.  Don't ever forget BUT do move on....

Thank you for sharing your loss with your friends, Whiz. It takes a lot of courage and strength. My sympathies and thoughts are with you. I lost my father in August and there have been days when I just want to hide under the covers and never come out. I know my dad would want me to keep training though, to take care of myself, and to achieve my goals. You're really lucky to have had such wonderful years with your father. He seems like a very loving and supportive person. The pictures are great! {{{{{{BIG HUG}}}}}} Keep letting yourself feel whatever you feel whenever you feel it, and sharing it with your friends and family.

And one of my favorite sayings: "Shared sorrow is half sorrow, shared joy double joy."

Laura, my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I lost my dad when I was only 24. This Christmas Eve will be 13 years that he has been missing from our lives. My biggest regret is that he never got to meet any of his grandchildren, and they didn't get a chance to know him.

It's so wonderful that your dad was able to share your triumphs in life. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your family and your dad with all of us.

I'm heading to the kitchen to pop the cork on a bottle of wine in his honor.

Take care,
Mike
