Subject: The Honey Boo Boo reality show. Seriously?!?

I realize that the network, whichever one it is, wouldn't do this if they didn't think it would sell, so obviously, there are people who are going to watch this, but all I can ask is.... Why?

Even if I didn't have a daughter I would find this disgusting

I don't really think that this is even threadworthy, just felt the urge to mention this.

Apparently I don't pay enough attention to TV; I had to look this one up. I can't imagine watching this, but it's an interesting reflection of U.S. culture (or lack of) that someone thinks this show will be watched. The brief article I found about it says the 6-year-old child "Honey Boo Boo" (I would never give my child a name like that, but she's not my child) drinks a combination of Red Bull and Mt. Dew. I am willing to bet that's not good for anyone, let alone a 6-year-old.

Holy crap... (and I stress the word crap, and the word trailer)...

With a home environment like that, $20 says she's hooked on meth before age 16.

Oh, that's just her go-go juice.  How else would you expect her to holla everytime someone gives her a dolla.

I'm happy to see this. The sooner we get the pendulum swinging all they way to the extreme of all that is vile, the sooner it will begin to swing back towards beauty and purity. This is surely a huge push in the vile direction.

The more reality TV like this that comes out, the more Mike Judge will be proven right.

What's so sad is that it used to have really good educational programming.  It's all crap now.

I'm afraid if I watch it, it will end badly. Kind of like the video in "The Ring", except that instead of costing me my life, it will cost me IQ points...

Maybe there are a few thing you just can't argue about and this is one?  So "cheers" to Honey Boo Boo for uniting the world!  The Olympics and Honey Boo Boo.

Apparently self-deprecating reality shows are now the in thing.  I present: Duck Dynasty...

Warning, ducks were harmed in the making of this video:

Usually an addict has to hit rock bottom before recovery can begin. I would like to think this proposed "programming" represents rock bottom, but I fear we're not even close yet. But I'm with you in theory.

You are all lucky, you get to ignore it.  As a worker for the Nielsen TV Ratings, I have to talk about and deal with this wonderful programming every day.

I imagine bottom being when we have a channel devoted to a guy hitting himself in the 'nads with a sledgehammer. 24 hours of nut-busting. And it gets middling to high ratings. All day long.

"Didja see 'Hammertime' yesterday, Joe?"

"Sure did Bob. Love that show. Wham, wham, wham! Hahaha"

"Hahaha. Wham!"
