Subject: RE: What's the grossest thing...Dog (inadvertently; free dish given to us by a Korean restaurant we frequented in China), fish eyeballls, pig ears, chicken butt, stinky tofu, durian, sea cucumber......the list goes on. In my recollection, the pig ears were the most disgusting. I had to eat them to be polite and my hosts kept serving them and I got incredibly sick to my stomach afterwards! I ate scorpion once in China but broke out in hives and my throat started swelling up, so figure I'm excused from ever eating them again. I've always had a "try anything once" policy but am actually kind of picky eater and a lot of things were eaten exactly once! I draw the line at the duck eggs with embryos in them that are popular in Vietnam. In recent years after a few too many cases of food poisoning, I've lost the urge for culinary adventure and tend to plead vegetarianism or being Muslim or Jewish (actually, I'm neither) and stick to my boring diet of mainly fish, tofu, eggs, rice, noodles, veggies, fruit, nuts, yogurt, and coffee. |
