Subject: July Tri Challenge - Weekly Update

Finally. Here it is.

It is incomplete because

  • Team Coeur de Leon did not give me their numbers this week
  • Team Guinness gave me their %s rather than their actual numbers (sorry I wasn't more specific, CAVU, so spank me)
  • Team Five Alive has not given me their goals but they gave me their actuals

When I have those missing numbers I will post another update.

Please check your own goal and actual numbers - I have about 100 people I had to input and I may have fat-fingered #s. Also, double check your formulas for your teams. I don't mind having editors to keep the #s accurate.

Keep up the great work!

Hey Renee!

You are just the best - thank you! Lawlessryde checked in today with 12.5 for the run instead of 6.5, and I will re-check the rest of our team against your amazing spreadsheet first thing in the morning - it will all work out in the end so if you want to save corrections to the next weeks totals, I think you deserve a break!

Take care and keep on keeping on!

To All Captains:

I received some very nifty spreadsheets but I find this simple method of reporting the easiest to use when updating the master spreadsheet. Format is Team member (in same order they were first added to team roster and are on the spreadsheet), swim actual, bike actual and run actual.

FWIW. If you wanted to score points with the chief clerk here.

Okey dokey...I can do simple! Now, here's a question for you, for week 2 will you want totals for that week only, or cumulative to date?

Just to be you know, geeky me!

For week 2, just the to-date numbers. No need to do more math.

And thanks for the compliment!

Goddess Renee, thanks for your hard work. I know we all appreciate it!

Just a question, why are some names in red and goals in bold?

Forgot to mention - the ones in red show a discrepancy between what I had recorded as their goals and what you sent me this week. Can you check into that? Thanks.

I was collecting some results from our team's logs the other day and found some interesting tricks. Maybe everyone else already knows these, if so please ignore me, but just in case there are others who don't...

My team has some goals in metric distance, some in english measures, and some in hours. My own are in metric. First I surfed the logs for all the metric month-to-date numbers that I needed. Then, in the log control panel, I switched preferences from kilometers to miles and from meters to yards. At that point I could surf the logs for month-to-date numbers in miles and yards. Later, just reset the preferences the way you like.

You can read time in either system but our time goals are listed in hours and the logs also record minutes and seconds. To make the calculations easier in our results spreadsheet, I converted minutes and seconds to decimal fractions of an hour. This is easy to do using the calculator in Windows. Just enter the seconds and divide by 60, add minutes and divide again by 60. The result is a fraction of an hour and you add that to the hours for a total time in one unit, hours.

Subject: 1ST WEEK: TEAM CRAZY 8 LEADS

Ok, some #s are still trickling in (only 5 days later) but I wanted everyone to have what I have  going into the weekend.

Please note: I added a column to count how many people were at 25% of goal in all three sports, as of 25% into the month. This is the critical scoring column. The team with most people at or above 25% is Team Crazy 8 with 4 people at or above goal in all 3 sports.

The next calculation we look at is % of goal; this is for tie-breakers. There are 4 teams with 3 people at goal. Their average %age of goal places them as follows:

  • 2nd - Team Lucky Lancers with 30% average
  • 3rd - Team Hoss with 29%
  • 4th - Team Good In-10-tions with 28%
  • 5th - Team Guinness with 26%

You might notice that Team Yuengling has a higher %age (27) than Team Guinness. However, Team Guinness has more people who are at or above goal so, therefore, they are ahead of Team Yuengling. See how this works? It's not an aggregrate scoring system. It's # of people who meet their goals that matters.

That's what the standings look like as of this past Monday. Hopefully, all captains can get their #s to me by end of day Monday and you will have a timely update by Tuesday morning.

Happy training this weekend!

Ummmm, I'm no good at math, so I'm just going to swim/bike/run and trust you know what to do with the rest. Sounds quite complex. I'm not into that... as per the "What Can't you Do" thread. Renee, in my opinion, you're a genius! Thanks for handling all of this!!!

Right click the file name and choose "save target as".  Name it anything and save it as type "all files".  Launch excel and select "open file".  Set type to "all files" and go the location where you saved the download.  It will then opoen as excel.
