Subject: RE: Would you stop and help?A few years back I was doing a HM in Adelaide, South Australia - it was a winter race and it was FREEZING and raining. Pretty poor organisation got lost a lot! Anyway in the forest I come across an aid station with one volunteer and a guy in a very bad way indeed. She didn't have a phone on her and this guy wanted to go on. He was weaving all over the place. The volunteer had no medical training she was just giving out water. She had no way of contacting any other official! I had my phone with me so I said I'd take him with me - we walked for half an hour - I had some gel shots, which I gave to him. After half hour he rallied and took off. I saw him at the finish and he thanked me after he threw up in a bucket. I did my worst time ever. But i was happy with myself. |
