Who else is watching the Hurricane Isaac?

I live close to the Florida Panhandle and work for a large Utility Construction Company. We are also in the middle of tri season! To say the least I am checking this storm every hour!

Here on the west central Gulf coast we are pretty jaded.  Unless it's a 2 or above we don't get worried.  Sarasota/Tampa has not had a direct hit in 90+ years.

It's going to continue to push off to the west (they keep moving it west every update).  So even the FL panhandle is likely only going to be a glancing blow.

I'm sure you know this but these storms are highly unpredictable on both their course and size. You are right to be watching though given its current state - take appropriate precautions and stay safe.

Last update it went back east. But that will change several time the next few days. The biggest concerns are the rain, we have had a lot of rain already the last few weeks, and how strong it gets when it gets in the gulf!

As usual, the projection changes almost with each update, but I'm really only watching b/c I'm supposed to do a 3 hr bike on Sunday.  It looks like regardless of the final path I'll be on the trainer

I'm not worried, it's a baby storm.

However, I am anxiously hoping it stays west of LA, as I have a Thursday flight out of MSY that I do NOT want to miss! Sorry AL/FL, hope it stays over there!

ugh... feeling it for y'all down there.  I'd much rather deal w/ blizzards than hurricanes.

20yrs ago today I was released from LSU band practice early for Andrew's 2nd arrival.  Growing up on the gulf coast I never remembered a storm as vividly as that (and it's the only storm I ever rode out "inland").  So glad I don't have to deal with that any longer.

GOOD LUCK!!

Starting to get some of the first bands here in Sarasota.  Looks like it's going to be a wind/rain event mainly. Nothing to get worried about for west central FL.

The panhandle however might have a bit more concern..

Every report I see takes it a little further west, could eventually hit New Orleans if the trend continues. And the further west it goes, the more time spent over water, the higher the potential for strengthening.

Just looked at the latest and it shows it going right thru NOLA (Weather.com).  Already saw gas lines with people filling up, I made sure the generator is ready.  Being out by BTR it shouldn't be too bad, glad I just had the siding on the house redone and the house painted, ready for the hurricane party!

It barely rained here in Sarasota.  Looks like south FL and the Orlando/Lakeland area got it worse than we did.  The radar loops shows a big hole over Tampa/Sarasota.  Our sphere of invincibility works yet again.

Not looking good for NOLA / Mississippi however.  Get ready guys...

I'll be wearing my Breitling Aerospace unless it gets way too wet, then I'll switch to the Super Ocean.

What watch is appropriate for a hurricane?

Mom and Dad are on a cruise heading to the Keys and the Gulf area...I think that they'll be OK, but I suspect there will be some rough waters. My poor dad gets so motion sick! Good thing they both got rain jackets for their birthdays.
