Run
Comments: Well, the good news is that my knees didn't break down. In the last couple halfs I've done (this is my 4th this year), I make it through 9 miles OK and then I end up crawling the last 2-4 miles. Didn't happen this time. I could tell my cardio was a little off - my training since my last half mary in early October has been a little sketchy. And I was a little crabby - just get it done already - until I found a friend of mine around mile 12. But I was never in dire agony and even though I slowed down a little at the end, I was able to keep "running" for the whole 13. What would you do differently?: Actually train? Keep my knees in better shape? Lose 30 pounds? Post race
Warm down: Got thru the finish line. Some idiot decided the best thing to do was to put bag return over a bridge. Walk up the stairs, over the bridge, get my dry bag. Was getting ready to call Judi & Jen to meet up for brunch when my calves completely seized - cramps so severe I fell to the ground and couldn't do anything except scream in agony. Some nice people came and took care of me and then the medics wheeled me to the med tent. Thankfully no IV, but they did keep taking my vitals and shoving powerade in me. After I rested a little, I answered Judi's text about where I was and she sprang me from the med tent. And then I hobbled up the hill to where we were going to brunch. Best thing? I was parked right outside of there...smart girl, huh? What limited your ability to perform faster: Less than great training. Obviously screwed up hydration - although I drank at each stop and took powerade at most on the backhalf. Last updated: 2012-07-17 12:00 AM

Got to the race site early so I could park next to where we were planning post-race brunch. Sat in my car & read a book on my iPad, ate a couple of Lara bars, drank a diet Pepsi (ew, ick - but I can't stomach coffee before I run), finally went up to the starting line & ran into Judi. Hung out until time to get into wave corral, where I found my daughter's teacher and some other folks I knew.
Shivering?
