Subject: February Love Challenge
February is the month of Valentines Day, the month for love. Your challenge is to choose the event you most love and set a challenge goal for it. You are welcome to set up to three other goals and track them on the spreadsheet, but only your Love goal will be counted for the team goal total.

You can bike, swim, run, walk, hike, strength train, dance, lose weight, climb stairs, or whatever else you want.

YOU define the activities. (Does 'swimming' include kick drills? Does 'running' include elliptical work?) YOU decide, and set your goals accordingly.

YOU set the goals. Only want to swim once? Only want to bike once? YOU decide, and set your goals accordingly. (But do try to challenge yourself!!!)

Please state you desire to participate here, but you may hold off on stating your goals until the team spreadsheets are created; you'll be able to enter them there directly.


This will be a Team Challenge. Teams will be assigned randomly. However, teammate requests will be honored whenever possible.


At the end of the month:
The winning team(s) will display a signature line: "My team won the February Challenge!"
All other (losing) teams will display a signature line: "My team didn't win the February Challenge, but we'll do better next month!"

Signature lines will be displayed for the month of March. After that, it's your choice whether to leave it, or remove it.


Team spreadsheets will be put on Google Spreadsheets. Each team member will update his/her own info.

Each team will select a team captain. The team captain will be responsible for making sure that each team member updates the spreadsheet by the reporting dates, and/or will enter information for people who are unable to update the spreadsheet directly. They will also be the liaison to me regarding team issues.


The Challenge will begin on February 1 and end on February 28.

In the event of injury/illness, you may request to be dropped from the challenge, without penalty.
If you achieve 100% of your goal before the month is over, you may request to raise your goal.


At the end of the month, the winning team will be the team with the highest completion rate.

All training must be logged in your BT Training Log!

Smack talking:
-- Smack talking is not mandatory, but may be done.
-- Smack talk is different from a personal attack. If you aren’t sure what the difference is, err on the side of caution and do not post the comment. (Keep in mind that real people are reading your comments!)
-- Smack talking is not to be taken personally. If you get upset about a post, ignore it and move on.
-- If you find a post offensive, and cannot simply ignore it: Walk away from the computer until you feel better, OR better yet, go for a good workout. A hard workout does wonders for your perspective.


The ultimate goal of this Challenge is to push yourself in an activity (or activities), to work out, to meet fellow BTers (virtually or otherwise), and to have some fun!

Hopefully, this Challenge will give you a little extra incentive and motivation to succeed at your goals – whatever they may be.

I see my other team mates from January are already here so I am going to join as well. It really helped to start January off right.  While I don't do much strength training as I should I LOVE how it helps my body look if I continue to do it.

So.. February is the month of strength training in the form of getting back to P90X.

Biking is my first, and greatest, love, but it's so heavily influenced by the weather; regrettably, I have no control over the weather   So, I am choosing to track my second love, swimming, for my Love Goal. I will also set a goal in biking, running, and yoga/pilates sessions to keep myself accountable.

Running used to be my love (and best leg) but lately it's been relegated to third behind the bike and swim, so Feb for me is going to be about the Run - my first love.

I'm in!!  Yoga is definitely my greatest love, but if left to my own devices, I'd only ever do yoga and would be screwed for my marathon & half iron this year Wink  I also love running, but I think I'm going to need encouragement to get back on the bike this winter.

So in honor of getting a new bike trainer, new aerobars, and a new bike fitting, I'm making biking my February Love goal.  Hopefully it'll be the start of my next great love!  I'll also track running, strength, and yoga for accountability.
