Champion 6931 Bellingham, Washington | Subject: Cars you've owned and driven I was daydreaming at work about what to write about for COJ and came up with this little doozy. I started driving about 1973 when I inhereted the Torino. 68 Ford Gran Torino (handme down from sister) 76 Chevrolet Monza Town Coupe (great gas milage) 81 Mercury Capri (had it for about a year) 86 Alpha Romeo GT (bought it from some GI in Germany, fell apart-got ripped off) 91 Ford Taurus (first car in marriage-bad paint job, and transmission went to crap around 80,000 miles) 95 Ford Ranger PU (great little vehicle except in snow-light backend) 07 Honda Ridgeline ( great vehicle) Also had a 79 Yamaha 650 motorcycle around 1980 also my wife has a 97 Honda CRV that she loves, never had any problems with it and over 100,000 miles. I am a much better driver now!

Champion 4835 Eat Cheese or Die | Subject: RE: Cars you've owned and driven 1988 Dodge Grand Caravan with wood paneling and all. Had it up to the door sills in water driving up creek beds on more then one occasion. 1991 Mercury Sable. 1991 Mazda 626. I loved this car. Would still like to drive it. My wife and I currently share a 1999 Nissan Sentra and 2001 Ford Escape. When I am home I drive the Escape since I'm carting the kid to daycare. When I travel I drive the Sentra. Both have about 160,000 miles. ETA: What about the and driven part? Are we supposed to list all the cars we've ever driven? That's a long list. Edited by graceful_dave 2009-01-22 2:44 PM |

I custom welded a dual exhaust for it in college. ) '95 Ford Mustang GT ( I guess I like the 302 ) '03 Mitusubishi Outlander ( Much easier to haul bikes and gear than the 'stang ) If we want to include driven, the list would be quite a bit longer with all the various rental cars I've spent time in, plus friends cars, etc. |

Champion 6285 Beautiful Sonoma County | Subject: RE: Cars you've owned and driven I don't know if I'll be able to remember them all, but here goes, in order: - 1982? Plymouth Reliant, or something like that (my mom's car when I learned to drive in 1985) - 1978 Ford LTD (my dad's - 1979 Mercury Zephyr (the car my dad bought me... in 1988) - 1982 Ford Escort Wagon (Smurf blue, with a cracked head, so it wouldn't go more than about 35 mhp, but I just loved it anyway) - 1991 Toyata Tercel (which I bought NEW, and then drove for 225,000+ miles ) - 2000 Toyota Celica GTS (which I also bought new, after I wrecked the Tercel , and eventually left with my ex so he could pay off the loan) - 1982 Honda Civic hatchback (which I bought as a car for my BF at the time to use, but took with me when I left, and continued to drive until a couple of months ago when if finally failed smog - 1992? Jeep Cherokee (Eric's car before the Rav) - 2007 Toyota Rav4 (Eric's car, which I love, but don't drive much) - 1995 Toyota Camry wagon (borrowing from a dear friend... it's a full-sized, v6 wagon that kicks azz but needs new brakes) - ??? I'm in the market for another car, although NOT a new car... probably a Honda or Toyota
There are countless other cars I've driven, but which didn't belong to me or the person I was living with. |

Subject: RE: Cars you've owned and driven In the grand tradition of my dad's side of the family being from Michigan and working for Chrysler or Ford (except for him), I've driven nothing but American cars: 1991 Dodge Spirit (old company car my dad got me when I got my license) 1990 Dodge Spirit (grandmother's old car that I got when I moved to DC) 2006 Chrysler Sebring (current car - bought for me as a grad school graduation gift). I got to pick from a selection of cars then owned by Daimler/Chrysler (sadly, Mercedes was not in my dad's price range). I REALLY wanted a Mustang coupe, but didn't feel like paying that much for the insurance. My family has owned nothing but Fords or Chryslers/Dodges. We get a discount, so that's a big incentive. However, I know everyone hates American cars because they're not as well-made, but since I didn't pay for any of them, I can't really complain. And the Sebring hauls a lot of crap, so it's worked well for triathlon, actually. Edited by wurkit_gurl 2009-01-22 3:21 PM |
