Just wanted to make a general announcement: once again, I am going to be a DAD!

My wife is due early October, so I'd best get my heinie in gear for some serious summer training, since come Fall I think I'll probably have my hands pretty full again.

That's so cool! We are trying to get preggers (about a year now,) and having no luck. Every tiime I hear about a new pregnancy I know my turn is coming soon, and I just train harder to get in shape for it!

CONGRATS!

Congratulations, that's really great. One word of advice. Skip the training. Get your heinie to bed and sleep while you can.

I have a theory that the reason our memory is so bad when we're sleep deprived is for the continuation of the species. We won't remember the first weeks with a newborn and we forget having said "never again...".

Having said that, being a dad is the coolest thing that could ever happen to you.

the first weeks of newborns? how about labor?

and i second the idea of resting while you can. working out can actually help you sleep better though, so i wouldn't rule out training completely. i've been training for a year while still night nursing and we have both kids in our bed...so i don't get a ton of sleep. the sleep i do get is better though, because of the stress release and fresh air.

Thanks, everyone! It feels even better when you spread the news around.

GatorGirl22 - 2005-03-24 10:56 AM What great news Grant!! Can I come babysit? hehe. How many kids do you have currently?

Absolutely! Babysit away!

Kid tally: 1 teenaged step-daugher (13 going on 22). 1 20 month old holy terror named Jackson, and 1 trimester 2 baby-to-be.

Three's the magic number for us, and I've been told to expect ZERO more once this guy or gal graces our fine planet.

As for sleep deprivation, can it be any worse than waiting for your teenaged daughter to come home on a friday night?
