Well its been a LONG time coming.... but here is the new bike:

Orbea Diva

Components: Dura Ace/Ultegra Mix

Carbon everything: frame, Keos, bottle cages etc

Mavic Askium Race Wheels, Vittoria Rubino Pro Tyres

Im still tweaking the fit so the steering tube hasnt been cut yet... likely to rotate the handlebars down some more and lower them over the next few months...

It is SO different from my old bike to ride... as Ive upgraded from a 2005 Trek 1200 (alloy, Tiagra/105 mix) that I purchased in September 2005... pretty MASSIVE upgrade...

Its incredibly stiff and seems to like to be ridden rather than coasting along...I also found that it was more efficient in term of effort required to hold my normal training speeds. Amazing really!

It corners beautifully which is fabulous since I was out riding in the wet for my maiden ride but its such a huge change in terms of position, feel and even reach as I have inserts in the levers to make the reach easier that the first 20 minutes I was just trying to get a feel for the bike. But I felt solid, capable and confident on this bike...

Its not a soft dreamy bike... its powerful, strong and almost aggressive... brilliant! I gues thats why its called a Diva!

Must have rained a lot, just look at that puddle behind

Must admit I noticed the steerer tube straight off but then read your comment. Very, very nice Cat. You've done your homework well. Not too sure I would have taken her (is it a her or a him when it's owned by a girl?) out in the rain. Impatient?

One observation ~ dispose of the bag & put contents in your back pockets. What have you in there anyway, makeup?

BTW what are you doing in the BCR & big rear sprocket? You're as bad as me.

Let me know when you've done 500 miles in a month on her

Lol - well Im having trouble working out the gears I like with the compact... so gimme a break! Im picking in a few weeks I will be in an entirely different situation...

I hear you on the bag too...as soon as I saw the pic when I got home I realised I wanted a pic without it... hmmm would be a good excuse to buy more kit... and well new kit is always a good thing right?

Edited to add: in the bag is... CO2, tube, cash, ID, mobile phone and keys....in my pockets was the camera and a muesli bar... thought I might need to stash the arm warmers in there too but I never took them off!

Oh that is one great bike, you'll love it.  I remember I got to play on one during my bike shopping and it saddened me so much that I couldn't take it home!  I'll go back to drooling over yours now...

YAY, the bike is home! Congratulations!

Beautiful bike, Cat! Based on your write-up, it sounds like you made a great choice!

(Does this mean we're going to have a TdF Challenge every month from now on?)

Have fun with it!

If you invert the stem and raise it up, the bars will end up at the same height and the bike will look much more streamlined and sleek. But, I agree that the steerer tube seems long.

I have an Orbea Onix as my roadie and would love to match it with an Orbea Ordu tt.
