Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Is it really all that? I was watching the Tour today and they did that little expose on the P4. I have also seen one up close at my LBS. It's a remarkable machine, no doubt, and I do believe it's the fastest TT bike ever made. BUT. There is no way I would ride that for 56 or 112 miles. The bike is so aggressive in it's position and the you would need to put on extra hydration systems that I don't see that it's advantages carrying over to Long Course Triathlon. It will be interesting to see how many Cervelo sponsored pro's race it in Kona this year and how they set it up. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It is quite sexy. Don't know about the integrated hydration thing, though. 40 seconds per hour? Hmm.... |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It's no more aggressive then a P3. The stack and reach, and for that matter all of the geometric measurements, are identical. As for the hydration concern, anyone riding a P3 in an IM needs to add a hydration system to it. I don't know if there will be a lot of pro's at Hawaii on the P4, but that has more to do with Cervelo not spending a lot of money on pro triathletes. The huge number of Cervelo's at Hawaii are due to their popularity with AGers. scott |

It's definatly a looker and a new adjective for beatifulgasmic would best describe it best. ![]() |

From what I have read the bottle is darn near impossible to reach (and not fall over). As far as it being the fasted bike tested there have been hints from Kestrel that their new airfoil tops the list now. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So there is one (not mine) sitting in my garage right now and I prefer my P3 - A guy crashed at the TT wednesday night, and after I tended to him and felt his broken collarbone we got the ambulance there so with no one else volunteering I took his gear home. he has is set up with rear disc and very deep dish front. I would NOT be able to reach the bottle!!! Very cool how it really is integrated into the frame but I do not see how I could reach it being a typical female with long legs and short torso - I would need ape arms! Funny, but up close, at least how he has it set up, it did not seem as sexy as in pictures etc.... |

I read that also. We had a small sponsored event by Cervelo where you could ride all the new bikes blah blah. Well the marketing rep already said they received a lot of complaints about the hydration system and they are in the works of "fixing" that. Whatever that means... a new P5? Doubtful. |

I was actually thinking they'd someone integrate a long straw in or something up to the handlebars? That's a lot of sucking though to get started ![]() Edited by merlin2375 2009-07-24 6:44 AM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() From what I understand, the bike's water bottle is part of the aerodynamics, that the design is more aero with the bottle there. It's almost like a fairing of sorts where it functionality as a hydration system takes a back seat to aero. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I figured they would fly off the shelves as soon as they came in. At my tri shop the owner said he cancelled the order on 12 of the 16 he ordered and I see he has 3 hanging on the wall as decorations. The P2 and P3 are just good enough to not justify spending the extra money for the P4 I guess. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() If they made a bottle out there that fits in the spot of the P4 bottle and you can run a straw from it up to your bars.. and be able to re-fill it on the go. I know there is a company out there that makes them, just not P4 specific. Then the fit/drop of the bike. I wouldn't have a problem at all with it, I can't get enough drop on my Orbea. |

I don't; I think it is debatable ![]() I like better the Giant, the Shiv or the new Trek. That said the P4 geometry is the same as the P3 AFIK hence I don't know why wouldn't you ride it for a HIM or IM. Of course people ride different positions and if you are used to a more slack postion investing in any of those bikes wouldn't make much sense, buying a bike with a < 76 seat angle might fit you better; OTOH for those riding 76> seat angle and with a big drops saddle:aerobars (12 cm > ![]() I'll be riding my DA for LP next year and right now my saddle is @ 78 degree and my drop saddle:aerobars is 14cm; so far I can ride 70-80 Mi comfortable on that position so for a HIM it is great. Moving forward as I start doing long ride 80 > miles I'll find out if I can ride and run with that set up, in fact I'll have my first try out this weekend when I ride the LP course tomorrow. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I bought one last month and absolutely love it. Easily the most comfortable bike I have ever been on - as previously mentioned the stack and reach on the bike is the same as the P3. At first I was very unsure of the bike - I felt like the bike was not doing a good job of transferring power as I was having a hard time telling how fast as I was going and did not have that immediate feel of accelaration that I had with my Kuota Kalibur. After riding the bike a month and racing on it this past weekend I no longer am concerned about the power transfer. It is a very smooth bike and I feel better coming off a long ride on the P4 then any other bike I have had. Cervelo is working on giving owners the option to use the current hydration bottle as a storage area for your spares, tools, etc. This would be a better option IMO as the bottle is hard to reach, though with practice you can get it. I do wish the bike had a place to hold a bottle on the frame instead of forcing you to go with either a double hydration system up front or a rear hydration system in the back. From what I have read, the bike is supposed to be 40 seconds faster than the P3 over a 40K and the P3 was, in theory (I am sure there are other people, bike companies that disagree), the fastest tri bike until the P4. Ultimately I am very happy as the bike fits me spot on, is comfortable and aero. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I heard the chatter about the p4 at the tour as well. I found it interesting the the next bike out or 2 the rider took the integrated water bottle off and had a regular water bottle cage/bottle fit on the frame where it was. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am not worthy to ride it. I barely feel worthy to look it it - I feel like I am looking at forbidden fruit. I think it is a gorgeous bike- it's like a stealth bomber on wheels. I thought the hydration system didn't really seem to hold very much at all but with a bike like that, who needs to hydrate! Bryan, this, if course, has nothing to do with what you were asking...;-) |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ya know I saw one this past weekend in action at the Stone Harbor Tri. Of course the guy was hardly cracking 20 MPH on it so it was hard to tell just how fast the bike could go.... To me though there were a fair amount of P3's in the race and to be honest with you they looked, for all intents and purposes, the same if not very similar when compared on the race course. I just don't get the goofy water bottle thing on the P4. I'd have to say that I love my P3C in black and white and would not dish out the extra for the P4. I also saw one at the LBS around here and was not overly impressed. Actually, if I were going to do another bike I think I would go to the Argon 18. That thing looks sick. Oh and Dan...you spent upwards of 5G on the bike. It better be comfortable! LOL |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() they are dead sexy bikes looks to me as agressive as p3....i am just curious about the price you can get one of these at....because msrp is close to 10k and there is no way i am droping that much.....for 5k i would consider it but i doubt they are even close to that price range. |
