Out of surgery - all went well.  She'll be released and sent home in about an hour....  she's to have knee raised for 2 weeks....

question of the day - how will she use the restroom?

She's supposed to have her knee raised above what?  Hip level?  Heart?  I can't imagine this would be 24/7, would it?  How's she going to shower also?  You could Google "portable female urinal" if you're thinking she could go in bed.  There are some options there.  If she's on bedrest for 2 weeks and really can't get out of bed, then I know there are ways to wash your hair in bed (a local salon might be able to help) and I guess someone can give her a sponge bath (I have a feeling you might find a few volunteers here).

wow!  my own thread.   Thank you everyone!   Yes, since 1991, advances have been made in anestesia - huge difference between then and now!   I have been told that many patella tendon grafts from that time period have failed and the hardware need to be removed before they can give me another fraft.   I told them to use the good stuff, not the  builder grade spackle.  AND, I saved my hardware!  I will post a photo later.  The funny part was when I asked where they would get the graft from, they told me I was too old to get anythign from another place on MY body, so they would use a cadaver graft.   I guess at my age, if it is in place and working, don't mess with it!

Elevation is not required 24/7.  I am going for elevation above hip level most of the time, with sleeping above heart.   Potty is just fine as I am skilled in crutch manuevering.  Shower today involved sitting on an overturned home depot bucket.   yes, it kind of left a ring around the booty.  I am in bed with a rented over the bed hospital table for lap top movies and eating.  My husband is bringing me snacks and keeping me in fresh ice packs.    and he bought me frozen dark chocolate dipped bananas.  yum.  My crazy dog is even being gentle with mommy.  Not a bad gig.   oh - and the bedside jar or percocet does me just fine....

And I would  be flattered to be considered pace booty, but you would have to be going very sloooowwwwwwww.
